my brother is scared of spiders, even dead spiders... my mom is afraid of worms for some reason. my co-worker is also afraid of spiders, it was funny, there was a spider on her desk one day and she completely freaked out. i've heard of some people being afraid of bees too.

i find the whole thing kinda ridiculous. you're way bigger, can easily kill the thing if you wanted, and in most cases (excluding poisonous spiders or being deathly allergic to bees) they couldnt harm you!

I don't have a phobia against certain bugs, and I don't run around freaking out about bugs.

But I do have a dislike for wasp and bees (never seen a hornet or a yellowjacket yet), I've been stung a couple times, and I didn't like it. If I see them, I just slowly walk back and avoid that area.

Spiders are creepy looking, but I havn't seen any that really freaked me out in my house. Some of the big nasty spiders are pretty creepy though. Remember the clock spider? I would probally be scared as hell from one of those things. The smaller ones (jumping spiders) don't bother me, and I used to play with and catch them when I was younger.

So, no real phobia on bugs in general, dislike (but not afraid of) wasps/bees, and just the big huge spiders bother me.

Im afraid of hairy spiders.. normal spiders are ok.

My fear started when i watched a nature show about those foot-long tarantulas in the Amazon i think that can jump a few feet, can shoot poisonous hairs of their back into their prey's eyes/skin.. and can generally scare the crap out of the normal human being.
I saw another show, where tribespeople catch these critters by holding down the body with a long stick (till all the poisonous hairs are shot out), bends its eight legs neatly over its body, upward.. tie the legs together.. cook it over an open fire and have a nice meal.... ( the legs were pretty meaty)..

So, yeah.. that's what i'm afraid of.

Oh, that reminds me, I really don't like cockroaches, but I'm not afraid of them.

BTW ajpa123, I've never heard of that! I'm going to go look it up, and maybe I can come up with a link. God help me if they somehow migrated to Florida! That is something I would be dreadfully scared of.

I'm not afraid of any bugs. I am quite discusted by many of them though. I think this applies to most people who say they have a phobia of insects/spiders/etc.

My biggest dislike goes to spiders. They leave a web residue everywhere that you just cannot wash away.

Agreed. I'm am very nervous when I have a bumble bee the size of a small bird buzzing near me. Wasps as well...

I don't like bugs that fly fast, are agressive, and hurt like hell when they sting.

Anything large. I don't like bugs that make sounds. I don't like bugs that have a hard shell. I don't like all manner of beetles. I don't like large spiders. I don't like long bugs, like stick bugs/preying manti, etc. I do not mind small bugs. This is an example of what I don't like (killed him last year). Dito

Every single one, even ants, flies anything at all. Hate them. Butterflies if indoors. Can't stand any of them, have to get away/leave the room/get someone to kill them or get them out of there.

Spiders, though I do realize their purpose, I just don't like them.

SHELOB really was unnerving.

i'm so scared of spiders i can't even look at the pics when you guys post them on here...

i stayed in a hotel in my hometown when i was home for Christmas. one morning my daughter and i are having breakfast (mmm..room service) when she screams (children pick up 10-fold on all your fears) and points to the wall where there's this big HAIRY spider crawling. i jumped over to the phone and called the front desk of the hotel (a Radisson in Santa Barbara, so they are there to SERVE) and made them send someone right up to kill it for us.

:p

Afraid of - none.

Intensely dislike due to allergic reaction to venom - Wasps, hornets, bees, fire ants, spiders. All of the aforementioned creatures exist on this earth solely to be killed by myself through whatever means is convenient, be that a fist, boot, textbook, big stick, can of hairspray and a Zippo, or flare pistol. (Yes, I have employed each of those in combat.)
