Not from New York.

While in College I thought Musicals were boring Ghey crap that there was no way I would enjoy. Then for my English Comp. class we went to see "The Music Man" at a Large Theater In Minneapolis.

Amazing, I can't wait to see another. I could only wish to go to New York and see a "Real" broadway show.

Anything should be amazing for her. Read some reviews.

Well, lets see... for my recommendations:

1) 42nd Street is brilliant I think, as long as you are into dance... it isn't so much of a musical as a collection of different genres of dance, but this is likely the best show I've ever seen in NYC
2) The Boy From Oz was good (I saw it this past weekend), and it stars Hugh Jackman (Wolverine from the Xmen movies) so it has star appeal.
3) Assassins is amazing, it's written by Stephen Sondheim (his most famous work is Into the Woods), and is a comedy about a collection of famous presidential failed and successful assassins. It's good, especially if you know some history.

I'd avoid like the plague any of the overhyped trashy musicals, ala The Cat in the Hat, etc, because they are more gimicky and trendy, not something memerable years down the road.

Way back i though plays weren't my thing either...but now i love going to see them. I remember seeing Miss Saigon..which was really good. I dont' think its on Broadway anymore though. I've also seen Les Mis and Rent...both were really good...though i preferred Rent. A friend of mine said Lion King and Phantom of the Opera were really good, so i'll probably see them next.

amen to that

I agree too.

I've seen many of the Broadway shows but Phantom is still the best.

Just make sure you don't see any shows during the middle of the week or else you'll get the understudies playing the major parts.

does it have to be exactly on the 14th of february?

if you call ticketmaster or telecharge or wahtever their ticket service is....they have 45 dollar Phantom tickets for select shows through march (maybe select seating as well? i dunno). The only thing is you need to call before the 30th of december to get the deal. I keep hearing the ad on the radio..so it has to be legit..I'm just not too sure on the details. Check it out if you're interested. :)

oh and in case you didn't know...les miserables is not running on broadway anymore. (i was so sad when i heard..I've seen this show 4 times!! and it's still not enough!)

EDIT: ok..i got the info.

Little Shop Of Horrors! Man, that new plant has got to be awesome! For the revival they added back Mean Green Motha but preserved the original "sad" ending.
<-- Has operated the "old school" plant (not on broadway, though)

I saw the Producers with Broderick/Lane and it was amazing. If they are back on for V-Day, go to it. It's going to be very expensive to see it with them, but it will be worth it. Amazing show.

Full Monty was also pretty good.

Nice! I checked for seats for the upcoming shows with them... and it's like $1000 a seat.
