Whatever is cheapest, currently Costco for me. Gasoline is gasoline, the idea of caring what brand it is seems silly to me.

Some really cheap ones are watered down. My car stalls quite a bit on shitty Mobil gas in my area but bp and Marathon run great.

If there is water in the gas, it would be detected in monthly inspections. It happens quite a bit too.

Usually GetGo now, because I get a little bit of a discount from shopping at Giant Eagle. If it wasn't for them, the gas station of choice is decided by distance from my normal driving route.

Doesn't matter which company it comes from, as far as I'm concerned. They'd all drown a million penguins a year in oil if it helped them improve profits a little bit. Their biggest concern would not be ethical barriers, but how to keep it quiet.

depending what refinery the product comes from, yes they are different...
But according to the commercials, every brand is the best one. ;)

Cheapest & coincidentally most convenient by us is a Sunoco. If it happened to be a BP, I'd go there anyway... I don't care about brand as long as I've heard of it.

The difference is that when I buy Shell, I get 10% rebates for using their card. :p

Also, some Sunoco stations will offer racing fuels. Sunoco used to offer 94 octane widely, but are phasing that out in favor of their ULTRA 93 offering. Still, for turbocharged cars running more boost than stock, the extra octane points are helpful.

That said, yes, by and large there aren't quality differences unless a station has a faulty tank.

Shell for current car, Chevron for last car.

Nice job on skipping Costco when it's one of the well known gas stations the country. Then you go and list a shit load of names nobody's ever heard of.

Whichever is the closest usually. Costco most of the time since it is the nearest from one work place, Shell is closest from Home/other work place. Usually Shell/76/Chevron when Costco is not near/anytime I need gas out of place.

Anything but BP, Citgo, and ExxonMobil.

Usually ends up being Shell, it's the closest and on the way to work. However, I really hate the TVs they have above the pumps now.

Brand of gasoline is completely meaningless. You're an idiot if you have brand loyalty to an oil company.

i went to chevron exclusively for years. then, they started to become inconsistent in their quality.
when i switched to my local shell, i stopped having those issues.

I always used Chevron for my boat. Other than that, I have never been brand loyal. Except that I won't use Arco. I have gotten bad gas from them more than once.

Criteria for selecting a gas station, in order of importance:

1) Do they have a restroom? Sometimes this is the only significant criteria.
2) Do they have Diet Mountain Dew on tap?
3) Do they offer discounts on pop refills?
4) Is the station on the correct side of the road for easy entrance/egress?
5) Do they have magic pumps? Some stations still require one to pay/talk to an actual person. Yuck!
6) Do they have crushed ice on tap?
7) Do they have squeegees, blue stuff, and paper towels available usually?

I prefer to fill up at one of two gas stations near my apartment. One is a 7/11 the other is a Chevron, I believe.

Get Go is what I go with as well since we do all our grocery shopping at Giant Eagle and we usually end up taking at least .20 to .40 off a gallon. Their prices are also on par with other stations around so its not as if they are charging higher for it. On my gascap it says Ford recommends BP Gas but I don't think I've ever filled up at a BP in my life.

I also use Shell sometimes when I am expensing gas for my dad's business because he has a shell card with the rebates on their gas.
