Dude! Just order this: Blaupunkt MP3000

I have one and it is a good unit. The early release had a fatal flaw--noisy playback of MP3 files--but mine is the second revision, and its playback is crystal clear as the source MP3. (In other words, if you don't hear noise when you play an MP3 file in Winamp, you won't hear noise when you play the file on this player.)

The tuner is also amazing.

Given that a new one is $129.95, I'll sell you my used one for $65, and I'll cover the shipping. If you don't take it, I'm going to list it for this price on FS/FT.

I'm not using it at the moment because Crutchfield claims it's a half inch too deep for my 2001 Mazda. I took it out of my Saturn before I sold it in late January, and I haven't installed it in another car since.

The date of manufacture on my unit is May 2002, and I bought it in late July. I only used it for 6 months (no smoking in my car!) and it's in excellent condition. It hasn't been used in 10 months, so I will bench test it to be sure it's OK.

Let me know if you're interested. 🙂

EDIT: SOLD

do u have any contact, as in some sort of instant messenger , ICQ, AIM, MSN? i'd like to discuss this more

I don't have any of that stuff, but PMs are enabled and my e-mail is listed in my profile. That's all I've ever needed to do a deal at AT. If you want to discuss this further, I'm going to ask you to follow the contact rules that we abide by in AT FS/FT, and enable your profile with e-mail visibility. 🙂

I was about to go to bed right now, but you can e-mail me or send me a PM, and I'll get back to you tomorrow. No matter what, I won't have time to ship until Monday, so we've got all weekend to work it out, OK? 🙂

BTW, I only have one recorded Heatware rating, but I bet some other nice AT'ers would tell you that they'd trade with me, right guys? 😉

Well, I hope so.

Anyway, I'll get back to you tomorrow afternoon with answers to all your questions.

hmm sorry i actually bought that JVC after all

I'm sorry too. (I never did get to bed yet. I guess that makes a liar out of me. 😱)

Did you get the JVC MP3-CD deck from Sound Domain?

Once you go MP3 in the car, you never want to go back.

Take care.

JVC gives you great features for your money. The only real downside is they arent the most powerful decks out there.

Let me settle some myths while I am in here. Pioneer premier is basically the regular Pioneer, with one more feature, a 2 year warranty, and "hand picked parts." WTH are hand picked parts?

Kenwood makes some good decks, but you have to spend some money to get good features.

Sonys xplode, literally. I have seen them catch fire in people's dashes before.

For your money, Pioneer puts out great product. They also use a very good power source that gives you clean and reliable power. The organic display technology changed car audio permanently.

No matter what deck you get, (I know you already bought the JVC, but this is just a general rule,) make sure it has 3 sets of pre-outs including a subwoofer out. A high and low pass filter, and get it installed by someone who knows what they are doing. I have seen way too many "people who know how to do it" forget to tape up a wire and short out their dash. I remember this one guy had one of those old cars where everything was digital on his dash. He forgot to tape up the dimmer wire, and as soon as he put his deck in he lost his whole dash. Oh he was tiffed.

Good luck on your purchase.

Pure crap.

For budget go with Pioneer. If you want to spend more go Pioneer Premier, Kenwood Excelon, Ecclipse.

The things you have to figure out first are:

mp3? wma? CD-RW?

satellite? Sirius or Direct

Changer?

Color of frame?

running amps?

budget?

I wanted a black mp3 player than could control three amps and a changer....I got the Kenwood CDC-X858....if grey/silver would have worked I could have saved about $100 probably.

My budget was $400-500, I paid around $350 I think.

Another vote for Pioneer. I've had two different cars and installed a Pioneer (around $300) CD player in each. They have each lasted over 4 years without any problems whatsoever and RARELY skip (I can't remember the last time it did). They sound great and outperformed my friends' high end sony and alpine decks. Pioneer has a customer for life here I will never buy anything else for my vehicle.

well my budget is tight, and it's only for temporarily use and also at the same time not for show off, i simply want to listen to some music in my car when i drive to school,

the car had a Kenwood KDC X9017, i'm not sure how long its been in the car because i moved here last year where my brother lives and i used his car since then

anyhow, a CD got stuck inside the player and the thing can't power up, i've heard this same issue among a few other ppl with Kenwoods and some other fellow did not recommend kenwood at all, but now i have some mix feelings and not total negative ones against it, although i do realize the top of the line kenwoods excelon are good.

anyhow i got the JVC S890 , plays mp3 and supports CD-RW the price at sounddomain.com was 129, but i price matched it and got it for 116, there's no taxing in my area and the shipping was 9 bucks so a total of 125

at first i wanted to get this really cheap JVC off Circuit City because i could get it immediately and it was only 99.99, (110 after tax), but i figured i'd go with the one that supports mp3 instead when it only costs 15 bucks more.

anyhow, my budget was VERY SLIM, i didnt even want to spend more than 130, which i would've done if i didnt price match and i guess for that price it's a decent deal for me, especially since i'm only intending to use this for a year or two before i change car, and if it still works i'll just take it out and put it in the new car.

I prefer Blaupunkt as well. Their headunits are nice looking and the controls are simple and easy to use. The latest head units from Alpine and Sony are too "busy" for me. The downside with Blaupunkt is that people say their head units look like toys *shrugs*.
