picked up a clockwork orange, man its hard to read, there are words in there that i am certain do not exist.

The language in it is an invented slang, heavily influenced by russian. I'm pretty sure all the wierd words are russian.

heart of darkness isn't so much a novel as a novella. Knock that off in a day or two. Quick, but good read. Stranger in a strange land is the opposite, it's a brick and I've not read it. So, by default, I voted Clockwork orange

Hmmm....if you want something that is just a good read.....fiction of course. Start the RAMA series. Good stuff.
Yeah, start it and leave it there. It turns into a miserable series as soon as he gets a coauthor. Though the first one is an excellent read.

I vote for the Stranger. If you don't care for Heinlein's sometimes winded cutesy sex talk, any of the earlier publications (before the 90's I think) had an abridged version that was a bit shorter. Excellent book in both forms none the less, although not stylistically typical of Heinlein or the scifi genre of the time.

Stranger in a Strange Land is an odd book. It's definitely one you should read, but you might want to start on one of Heinlein's other books. Someone mentioned Starship Troopers, whis is one of his more "normal" scifi books and a good read.
