I bought a PhatNoise PhatBox for my VDub. I need to rip my audio cd's. What rate would you recommend? They recommend 192, but I was consider 256 or higher. Suggestions?

Unless you have an extremely audiophile setup in your car, 128 - 192k should be fine. No sense in going much higher for car audio....

Does your digital player support .OGG? If so, go with that. It's a variable bit rate format with comparable quality to 192Kbps .mp3 with a smaller file size. If it doesn't support .OGG, go with 192Kbps .mp3

In a car I doubt you'd ever hear the difference between 128 and 196 or higher. Go w/ a variable bitrate w/ an average of 196, then you should be good to go .

192

I remember when 128 was "CD Quality"... but 192 is definitely better than 128 and CDs sound better than 128.
