what bit rate are CDs?

Anything mp3 sounds crap to me. Even 320 VBR. Flac is where it's at. Then again I have an expencive receiver and speakers hooked up to my PC.

CD's don't have a bitrate either. They are 44.1hz uncompressed digital. DVD's Dolby Digital is 192kbs and sounds like crap while DTS is around 600-800kbs VBR and sounds much better.

I just go wav or run the cd in a dedicated transport/dac/power supply.

I have a receiver that powers separate vacuum tube pre-pre-pre-amps for each of the lines, they are then fed into individual vacuum-tube pre-pre-amp, that feed into DSP modules, that are themselves fed into separate vacuum-tube pre-amps, that are then equalized using a 1024-band equalizer, before being fed into amplifiers. This all powers my 128 speaker setup with driver sizes that range from 12 ft to 1 micron.

The cables are all quadruple-shielded 10AWG solid gold. CDs, DVDs, and SACDs are for amateurs, I only accept source material in the form of the original master tapes.

Do I qualify as an audiophile with this setup?

My Dreamcast is 128 bits which makes it sound 8 times better than CD.
