What bike would you choose?

Very tough call...honestly, I'd probably go for an R1. I'm partial to Suzuki, but I'd take the Gixxer 1000 over the Busa. Hell, I don't even know if I'd want a liter bike at all. Going with a 750 for my next one, most likely.

But that's just me.

As it's only a choice between those two I'd have to go for the busa (although I'm just about to take delivery of my R1 heh), the only thing I don't like about it is the hump, I know it's aerodynamic but my god it's ugly.

The busa just has the raw power and speed and until the new Duke comes out it still holds the performance crown for road bikes.

Having said all that I can't afford it and definitely can't afford to insure it so I'm going for the R1 and I can't wait...

Vespa!

Either way those two bikes are beyond the capabilities of most riders. If it's about the biggest crotch-rocket then just make sure he's had some experience on a lower CC/slower/more predictable bike.

I have heard so many 1 week to accident stories and most ended with a permanent injury. A bike is about as close to unbridled power you can get and you are the bumper/airbag.

you're comparing a sport touring bike vs a modern day superbike. A real comparison is an R1 versus the gixxer thou, and the Gixxer takes the cake in my book.

If your buddy has experience, either of these bikes is great.

I'm kind of partial to the RC51

PSA, the new bikes that end up in a wad o steel are typically the 600 class because the newer riders tend to purchase them. The liter class sport bikes are typically purchased by much more experienced riders & have a significantly longer life span, I've known many a dealer to steer less experienced riders away from the liter class stuff.

I think you are wrong.. the liter class sport bikes are typically purchased by newbie riders all too often and the dealers don't care because they are just trying to make a buck. Some dealers care about their customers.. some do not.

The 600 is good even for an experienced rider... how many ppl can really milk 100% of a new 600's performance at the track? The only drawback is that you have to rev the bike to get power.. but IMO that's half the fun 🙂 I don't wanna ride in 1st gear all the time in the city.

Lovin it...

And I agree about the comparing apples to oranges which is why I said as you only have a choice between the busa and the R1 I would go for the Busa... Really the poll should be between the R1 the gixxer thou, the ZX10R and the fireblade, but you goes with whats given 😉
