I almost learned the hard way a few weeks ago while using my drill press. I had gloves on and for some reason I reached for the bit as it was spinning. The bit instantly grabbed the glove and my thumb, but I was able to pull my hand away before getting seriously hurt, though it felt like I smashed my thumb with a hammer. The glove now has a hole where the thumb goes.

My woodshop teacher in high school told us about someone he knew who was using a jointer without a guard and slipped, and within a split second their arm was in the machine up to the elbow. I don't know if that's true or not, but I certainly wouldn't want to risk it.

tl;dr Use your brain; power tools don't have one.

My friends dad when I was growing up was missing the ends of 3 of his fingers. I asked him how it happened and he sort of chuckled. He said he was using a tablesaw and the wife walked into the garage and yelled something at him, he turned his head and his hand slipped and woops there went 3 of his finger tips from the knuckle up. Turns out she wanted to know what he wanted on the pizza she was ordering...

Plus:

1. It has an electric option available

2. It's be stupid useful as a tool that could live in your garage

3. At ~$37k, it's cheaper than a lot of fancy sports cars that live in people's garages these days :p

4. elevated mount for the firehose that you also bought (naturally)--for when you really need to keep those bastard kids off your lawn.

5. high angle shots for all those porn orgies that you shoot in the backyard.

Do tell...
I ordered a 36" Alaskan mill to make some deck boards for the boss' trailer, but that's just an excuse to have some fun, and use some wood on the farm...

My saw's too small for the 36", but I wanted to get something a little bigger than I immediately needed in case I like chainsaw milling, and I could get a bigger saw later. If I'm buying, I'd get the 661cm...

If SaltyNuts is buying, I'll take the 880 Magnum :^D

Oh right if I build a big shop, definitely want a nice lift. I'd really like to get more into car stuff. I just don't have room on my current property to build a big shop. I always thought a fun project would be to do an EV conversion of an old car. Probably start with baby steps first though, need to actually learn the basics like doing brakes, shocks etc. :p
