What big ticket item do you want to buy more than anything?

Hmm, either an EV truck, or a piece of earth moving equipment, like a Kubota tractor or something along that. Ideally something that can dig but also plow/grade. If I had like 25k magically show up I'd probably go for the Kubota. But if I had like 200k I'd get the EV truck too. The current offerings have really small beds, so I would need a trailer too. May as well go all in with a 5th wheel trailer and get the attachment in the bed.

I could use a Dingo with a bunch of attachments, a band saw, jointer, and a CNC router. In two months I'd have no use for any of it though.

i want a lot of things in that price range. like a house. i just saw a nice small one for 180$k that i was interested in.

but if i had that money i'd probably still live like a pauper and mega backdoor it into my roth IRA over a few years.

i've saved money for so long that i don't think i'll be able to spend it.

Grand piano. One of my past teachers had a Yamaha that I quite liked. Steinway is well within that price range too but probably don’t need to pay for that name.

I have the money mentally set aside but not the space .. been thinking about just going for a quality upright (I have a nice digital but the action is starting to wear out)

same here! i've planned for decades on spending 50$k someday on a used grand piano.

i'd really love a fazioli (ridiculous i know) but would settle for something else that has the right sound and feel

but big houses are expensive, so i'll probably stick with uprights as well. my next upgrade might be from my digital keyboard to a nice yamaha or kawai upright.

A ramada and bathroom on our land. We set aside the money but can't find a builder to take it on. We'll have to wait for the next recession, I guess.

I'd like to own place at some point, but have to put that off until my wife is done with med school and residency. We did buy a new car last year, and went on a trip to Paris in March, so I guess those are some recent big ticket things.

As for ongoing "big ticket" items, med school is pretty expensive...

The house project is underway so I'll skip that
1) 2023 Denali 1500 diesel
2)Biggest trailerable cabin cruiser/fishing rig.
3)a share in a spam can at the closest airport to the new place. A cessna 182 for example.
All that would be possible under the 200k lid.

I need to try some good uprights. I’ve always written them off because every one I’ve played has felt like trash with very difficult pp/ppp dynamics, even in my university’s practice rooms when I used to play there, but apparently they can be good instruments.

I’m opening up my kawai digital this week to attempt to fix the dead/stuck keys .. if I fail an upright is in my near future lol. Probably under the $25k min spend of this thread though.

Just boring remodel stuff, I suppose. I'd like to have a bathtub long enough to be comfortable in, and one of those fancy temperature controls where you just punch in the water temperature you want and out it comes. Heat pump would be good too, for those handful of days when AC would be nice, and yeah, I guess a sauna would be cool too.

A new car. Preferably an EV. Not a Tesla, that dumb center screen is on the right and my right eye has very poor, uncorrectable vision.

15ish years out... to our retirement plan.

5-6k NM range, no trouble to cross the pacific or visit any place with mostly liquid water.

sell everything and buy one. hopefully they keep building them. a bit more than 200k though. ha.
