What batches are these E6600s, and which is the better OCer?

I have two E6600s:

L627A687

L632A649

I heard a lot of talk about batches, such as the "dud overclocker" F batch. Which batches are each of these processors?

Also, theoretically, which is the better overclocker? Will one be less power hungry, overclock higher, or are they about the same?

Due to the very stuffy area I have for this computer, I'm trying to hit a low voltage, decent speed sweet spot. The week 32 chip would hit 3150ish with around 1.35v, but was starting to get unstable (?). This new one booted right up to 3150 with the old one's voltage settings (forgot to reset CMOS, whoops). Later tonight, I'll play around with the voltage and see what I can do.

Thanks.

Have two E4300 CPUs. S/N difference of one digit. CPU A hits 3.24GHz. CPU B hits 3.46GHz. Both on the same MB and Vcore. Always YMMV with overclocking. Gotta load the CPU to know what you have. No one on this forum has a crystal ball.

There were different batches of these processors as far as I know, though. People referred to the earlier ("B", I believe) batch as excellent overclockers, while the later "F" batch wasn't so hot. I think the even later "G" batch wasn't a high overclocker, but could hit a decent overclock with low voltage.

Yes the L626 - L630 "B" were good chips.

The L630A (which is what I have) is also a good chip.

The only 2007 chip I've seen that has been good is the L709 chips

I'm having more problems with this week 27 than with the week 32 right now...

I haven't had much time to play with it, but I'm a bit disappointed. I'm hoping it's just my northbridge voltage that's limiting me right now.

Thanks for the info. :)

You got that right!
I'd originally bought a "G" version from Fry's b&m in April this year.
Couple of days later, I heard the 'horror" stories of "G" being a lousy overclocker.
I then ran back to Fry's and exchanged for the "B" version.
Boy, I'm glad I did because my "B" simply overclocks like a mad man.
I could hit 3.6ghz @ 1.48v (vcore) on air and passed orthos as long as I wanted to,
Finally settled down @ 3.4ghz and 1.45 (vcore).
