Avril Lavigne
I also hate most of what is considered the current "alternative" genre, along with "numetal" and rap.

What's wrong with Linkin Park?

Probably my favorite band. They release short CDs, but what you get is amazing. If you've only listened to the radio songs, I can possibly understand why you'd be tired of them, but otherwise there's no excuse. Everyone should love LP.

i can tell you why i do not like linkin park.
i made a comment about how they lack talent, and this guy tells me that their music is *so complex* and has so many layers and harmonies
that they have to play to DAT or a CD live.
thats what makes their music "interesting".
no the real reason they layer vocals and put so processing into their sound, is as i stated before a lack of talent.
you can take anyones voice and layer it 5 times and make it sound okay.
even mine.

And writing lyrics, tabs, and mixing samples takes no talent.

and i'm really sick of people who claim that rap and "techno" don't even count as music genre's.

why don't you guys escape the bounds of your narrow minds, and try to understand different cultures for once?

no talent? you have no talent.

then your view of rock bands is extremely limited.

at least i try.

i don't just call all rock stupid - like some of you do to rap or techno.

you obviously haven't been there or done that thoroughly, or you would have developed an appreciation for the music.

What?

I've listened to many different genres of music. Some I like, some I don't. It would appear that Wuffsunie doesn't like that kind of music. Some people just don't like it.

I really hate people like you. I mean that. You know precicely jack $hit about how much I've listened to and what I've listened to, yet because I haven't formed the same conclusions regarding personal preference as you, I need to work harder at it. I've borrowed CDs from friends and heard enough of that stuff in clubs and on the radio to come to a very sound conclusion, thank you very much. While techo is okay, I've not found any of it that would make me want to buy a CD. While there are a handful of rap songs I like, the genera itself is aken to something I'd scrape off the bottom of my shoe. All IMO.

No one is obligated to like everything. Tolerate, yes. Like, hell no. It's like if I went to you and said (assuming the following sentence is true) "You don't like S&M. You may have only heard about it, maybe only had limited experience with it, but you still don't like it. Really, I think you just haven't immersed yourself enough in the culture to truly appreciate it. Go back to Lady Heather until you like it." (The last bit's a CSI reference. Just got the season 2 set.)

Anyway, the comparion to the above and your insisting I listen to more rap is pretty much the same thing. IMO.

And, no, I will not waste the limited time I have listening to something I've deemed unlikeable because winamp rapjockey has insisted that I try and like it.

To my mind, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it probably needs about another 35 minutes in the microwave!
