What band do you hate the most?

I can see how they can be considered pop music based solely on the fact that they are popular, but their sound is hardly pop. Just because they have a huge amount of success and are liked by the general public, doesn't make them any worse of a band. I'm waiting for their new album to pass judgement. If they take a route that betrays their musical talents so that they can continue to be liked by everyone, then I'll agree with you.

i mostly listen to rap and r&b exclusively so i am not that knowledgeable about other genres... but if you must ask there are few that really annoy me:

American HiFi
Blink182
No doubt
ALL BOY BANDS
Kid Rock
Eminem
any other stupid rock bands

i think it does make them a worse band. you know, bands just dont accidentally get popular, it takes alot of pushing by the record label, etc, and if they were in on it then they are sick soulless pigs, and if they werent in on it, then they are ignorant idiots for putting their careers into the hands of their record label.

I more or less agree with that, except Papa Roach is good sometimes. Creed is terrible, and Limp Bizkit would be great if Fred Durst would leave. Blink, Green Day, and all other punk is crap IMO.

I know its cool to have a band that you really like that no one has heard of, but how would you like being on the road for months at a time, coming home to crusty apartment and having no money?! I don't like teenyboppers or MTV, but I can't blame a band for wanting to make some cash. Besides, there are many great bands from days of old that sold millions of records and no one cares about that now, they remember those bands for the great music. Also, when they signed a record deal, promotion is part of the package. A record company isn't going to spend thousands of dollars on a record, and then just sit there and watch it do squat at sales. They need to make their money back, and to do that, they have to promote the band, even if the band doesn't want to be a teeny-bopper favorite on TRL. Finally, if you don't like teenyboppers and TRL, don't watch it! I never watch that godawful show, I just listen to what I like and don't worry about who else is listening.

I hope very much that someone new comes along and shakes things up, because rock at this point, as a mainstream art form, is basically dead. Nearly everyone popular is borderline useless, and will be totally forgotten in five years. IMO Radiohead is the only big band doing anything remotely interesting anymore. There's lots of good underground rock and rap, but it seems much more difficult to find than it used to be.

So, heh, rather than listing poor bands, let's just say that if they're on the radio or MTV, chances are very very good that they suck. All the crap-ass metal (Korn, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, 8 million other faceless bands), crap-ass pop (Britney, Christina, the usual suspects), crap-ass mainstream rap (Nelly, Puffy, etc.), crap-ass Pearl Jam-wannabes (Creed, 14 doors down or whatever, etc.), crap-ass pop punk (Blink 182, etc.), and crap-ass jam bands (Dave Matthews, etc.)...it's all worthless. Worthless, I tell you!

Joey Ramone dying was the last straw. I wish all you damn 18-year-olds would get busy and produce another Kurt Cobain. Except without the suicide. Get crackin'!
