MSN Autos is showing reliability issues with the Impreza's engine except for '95 and '96. Is the problem common, or is MSN Autos just stupid?
There was a headgasket problem for '97-'99 Phase I DOHC EJ25 (2.5L H4) NA engines. This was addressed by Subaru through warranty, recall, and TSB, but I do recommend avoiding those engines. The Phase II SOHC EJ25 NA engine is actually superior. I am not aware of any other engine problem among Subarus.

Hmm... I just looked it up and MSN Autos is stupid. For example, the "significant problem" with the engine it mentions with the 2001 Impreza was addressed by a voluntary recall by Subaru to replace the O2 sensor and reprogram the ECU. Cat failure was extremely unlikely. Mostly it would just light up the CEL (Check Engine Light) with a false P0130 code (front O2 sensor too lean). Annoying but no drivability problems.

Anything subaru. They run forever and no weather condition this side of the artic circle can get in your way. Great MPG and spry handling.
Can anybody else vouch for Subaru's reliability?
Subarus don't die, they have to be killed. Seriously, they are that reliable.

They used to suck nuts before. Can you say 'Justy'?

Depending on price range and what all your're looking for a Jaguar X-Type 2002-2003 can be found used for 14k-20k, and if it's a Jaguar select they have 100,000 mile warranty's and all maintenance covered up to 50k miles / 48 months.

Uhh... the Justy was the 1st production car ever with an ECVT (electronic continuously variable transmission). And it wasn't supposed to be any type of "oh wow look at that" car. It was a Geo Metro competitor, back in the Bush I era recession (with tight times and high gas prices). Super cheap econobox that got 45 mpg.

AWD is for girls. Wait, this car IS for a girl.

We live in Washington, so it's going to be driven in the snow, assman.

And I agree with AmdEmAll. 😉

fwd is for people who don't want to pay for awd and want to drive their cars with little hassle year round. awd is nice but fwd can easily cut it in the snow if you have good tires (and don't drive like a retard).

1. 500 hp bi-turbo engine
2. 0-60 in 4 seconds
3. Tops out at around 320 km/hour
4. You can fit your whole family and camping gear into it

It's 450bhp and it's also one of my favourite cars ever.

Actually it's more, the eastern eurospec version has 500 + (forgot exact number, it was in my Polish car magazine)

WRX-STi because...Subaru makes a great car and the STi is an AWD rocket!!!

BTW-You'd have to be a complete dumbass to buy a car simply because it was manufactured by people who are the same race as you.

Jaguar is one of the worst rated cars for reliability. The X-Type in particular is noted as being at the bottom of the list of most reliable cars. 100k mile warranty is a marketing gimmick. Avoid these cars like the plague.

Dude, WTF, read my "I'm car-stupid" thread from 2 days ago. My dad drove the Scooby with low oil, my sister drove it for a year without changing the oil, I drove it with low oil, the car has 113,000 miles and it KEEPS ON TICKING LIKE A TIMEX MAN!!! Buy Subaru already!!!!

Hmmm my AWD, the 1992 Nissian Skyline GTR R32 Vspec, that car was ledgendary in our Group A touring car catergory during the late 80's early 90's, it was banned from competiton in 1993 due complaints by other manufacturers about the skyline considerable racing perfomance.
Its easier to get a car banned rather than manufacturer one that can compete, as I recall only ford really took up the challange, with the Cosworth Serria, which generally finished close behind the skyline.

I love my subaru. I will definatly buy another one once this one has run its course.
I also love my older audi quattro, but I would never buy a new audi.

That's RWD, otherwise great choice. 🙁

The production version (Audi R9) won't be twin turbo, at least not until the next RS6 redesign. I wouldn't mind that 500hp V10 R9 though.

Yeah I realised as soon as I typed it that the GT2 was actually the RWD but I was too lazy to delete or edit to the normal Turbo or weaker sauced Carrera 4S. 🙂 😀
