What are your travel plans for 2022?

Trips planned for us:
7 days in Glacier National Park
12 day trip to Alaska - cruise followed by time on the Kenai Peninsula
10 day trip to Amsterdam and Ireland
14 day trip to Andalucía Spain, Canary islands and Morocco - although this will span NYE


The trip to Ireland and Amsterdam is a family trip I was asked to plan so that should be interesting as its a much different trip than we would normally take. Also planning a multi country international trip for 8 is not super fun.

I get 24 days of vacation a year that is a separate bank from my sick and our paid holiday leave spans Christmas to New Years Day (So I have the 26th-30th off this coming Dec)

That's wild. I have a good paying corporate consulting job and my 3 weeks include sick time. You are lucky!

I live in what's basically paradise for me, so I don't need to go far, planning to climb some mountains but they're less than a 2 hour drive away, going to the ocean again, but same deal.
Visiting flyover country next month for my oldest kid's wedding.

I hate that stuff as a tourist. I was joking when I originally said there should be under cover rangers at key stops and hikes to hand out tickets for that kind of stuff but now I'm mostly serious. They could likely bring in a noteable profit after paying for their salaries and keep the stops and trails cleaner

A couple weeks ago I was out hiking and climbed a hill just off the trail to seek a better view, and found a 1970s-era pull tab Schlitz beer can on the hill I'm always out in those hills so I bring litter back with me when I find it.

That's because American companies are stuck in the stone age and Europe has it right in that regards. As a culture we live to work vs. working to live.

Thankfully I get 25 days PTO and then 10 paid holidays. I can do leave without pay if need be too but I've never ran out of PTO. We can also go negative, which I have done before.

No official vacations planned but probably do lot of camping trips to my new acreage property. It's going to be to actually do work on it since I need to actually clear an area to start building but it will also double as just camping and taking it easy. Especially at peak of day when it's just too hot to work, probably go to the nearby lake, or just explore the area. Lots of roads and trails in the area that I have not really checked out yet.

I do have a camping trip planned with a friend too, we normally rent a cabin at the provincial park but I could not get it this year so we'll probably either get a tent campground there or just go on my property. Kind of play it by ear. I did not book anything. I'm leaning towards just camping on my property but taking a day to go to the provincial park and get a day pass, just because it's become tradition to go there.

There is some element of choice involved. While I'm not unhappy with my salary I could make more somewhere else. Heck I turned down a better paying job inside the company because I knew it would mean more time working even with the same number of vacation days (longer work weeks)

Even just taking the dog for a walk around the neighborhood I am known to come back with a few items of trash I find around. I wish more people would do that. It's not that hard

Going to Napa in June for a week of wine tasting/wine buying. We are renting a house and budgeting a few k for wine. We are driving up the 1 and plan to spend a little time in Big Sur.

Could give you some tips on Morocco if you haven't been. Did a trip there about 10 years ago - avoided all Western hotels, rented a car and just did our own thing with two guide books.

Going back to my home state PA for a week, catch up with family. Also a long weekend at South Padre Island, TX in July.
