- I control songs with just my mouse buttons; with it I can pause, change volume, next track, etc. Google for Volumouse.
- I hotkey programs to Ctrl+1, 2, 3, etc.
- Just recently discovered the F2 is a shortcut to renaming files.
- Changed my power button to perform sleep instead of shut down.

Let's hear yours. I really should use short cuts more.

Launchy.

Alt + Spacebar then n will quickly minimize a window.

Try using Opera maybe, lots of shortcuts there.

this. I use it at home for coding (very fast way to pull up a source file) and use it at work for documentation. Want to know how to create a user in some obscure system we only deal with every 5 months? type in "obscure system user creation" boom! pulls up the doc.

For Windows

Windows Key + L = Lock machine at work
Windows Key, U, U
For energy efficiency, I disable automatic update checking from my HTPC and don't allow guide updates to wake the machine.

All other machines are powered down when I'm away more than 2 hours.
NAS box goes to sleep after 15 minutes of non-use.

I just use the basics (bold) with the occasional "moderate" shortcut throw in.

CTRL + Z = undo (this is a must)
CTRL + X = cut
CTRL + C = copy
CTRL + V = paste
CTRL + A = select all
CTRL + F = find
CTRL + R = find and replace
CTRL + P = print
CTRL + S = save
CTRL + Shift + S = save as
F2 = rename selected
F5 = refresh web page
F11 = browser full screen
double click text = highlight the entire word
triple click text = highlight the entire line
Shift + Home = highlight from the current position to the beginning of the line
Shift + End = highlight from current position to the end of the line
CTRL + Shift + Home = highlight from the current position to the beginning of the document (page?)
CTRL + Shift + End = highlight from the current position to the end of the document (page?)
ALT + Tab = switch window, or minimize single window
ALT + F4 = oh shit I was looking at porn and my wife / girlfriend / roommate / neighbor just walked in!

get a mac 🙂

sweet, one button.

Win7 has good built-in shortcuts for multiple monitors that I use constantly...fixes the "no snap" on the middle bezels.

Win + Left Arrow toggle docking to half the screen starting by the left half
Win + Right Arrow toggle docking to half the screen starting by the right half
Win + Shift + Left Arrow move the window one monitor left in a multi-monitor display
Win + Shift + Right Arrow move the window one monitor right in a multi-monitor display
Win + Up Arrow maximize
Win + Down Arrow minimize

Faster! 🙂

Damn my slow finger, still can't get it to work.

Edit: It works on IE, but selects whole paragraph. It doesn't work in FF...

Edit 2:
It works when I changed the click speed in the mouse settings. I love you Google.

Ctrl + Enter to auto type in the www. and .com (yes I'm sure you already knew this).

Nope, but I never type those anyway.

The middle click on icon is awesome.

Don't forget Shift + Enter for .net, and Ctrl + Shift + Enter for .org.

Question about Launchy: What's the point of using it on Vista/7? Can't you already type in whatever you're looking for in the standard Start menu?

wow cool cnrl sft enter = .org if you go to anantech.org it goes to the forum not sure if anyone knew that hehe i guess its faster just to type .org than shift cntrl enter tho

Heh, that's the same reason I try to avoid touching the mouse. I seem to be significantly faster when using keyboard shortcuts instead of mousing around, too.

switching from one window to another. ALT+TAB, is ok.. can see icon with description. But mouse can be faster..And probably is typically faster.
