Whether it's through immigration or birth, the population of the US is increasing from decade to decade, so why encourage more children? And I couldn't give a damn about some family of 20 in Pakistan and the fact that Pakistan might be growing faster than us. Why should that affect us? It's a well known fact that the average American (or Canadian or Brit if you like) consumes more resources than several people from an underdeveloped world, so in ultimate resources consumed this woman's family of 14 is more like a family of 100 in some sh*t-ass country (like most of the countries on the planet).Originally posted by: sparkyclarky
If she can afford it, it is her right to have them. For those of you clambering about over population, you should read up a bit. The number of children per person is actually dropping quite a bit in the developed world. Europeans are actually being encouraged to have more children, because traditional cultures are being lost as heavier levels of immigration occur. The birthrate of 'natives' in many countries is actually too low to sustain the population. My mom comes from a family of 9. They weren't wealthy growing up, but very few rural folks were in Wisconsin during the 60s and 70s.
I don't understand...he's criticizing her BECAUSE she's got an excessive amoung of children.i find it interesting that you apply your definition of "excessive" to her situation to criticize her

Define "too many".
I think "too many" should be "more than she can support". If this woman and her family can support loads of kids, they should be allowed to.
If she doesn't look after them, she has too many.
