I had to take it when I had mono last year... the pain was so bad that I literally had about 6 hours of sleep over the first 3 days of it being in full effect.

Took one within the hour of getting the prescription, went to bed... slept for about 12 hours and had the most freaking vivid dreams of my life. Woke up a little bit dizzy, but it wore off once I started walking around.

vicodin makes me angry.
Opiates do make me quite irritable, which is odd consdering how most are affected.

I took it as a sign that none of that stuff was for me. I hope I never need it. <Furiously knocking on wooden desk>.

Wait wait wait.

You got vics for those injuries?

Hell, my Doc only put me on a strong does of tylenol for a 2nd degree tear of my MCL/Meniscus, 2nd degree tear of my PCL, and strain/partial tear of my ACL. This was after he knew I already had a 2nd degree tear of my MCL/Meniscus in my other knee, and torn cartilege in my ankle.

I gotta find another Doc.

Back around the time i was having bad cramps (later found out my apendix was causing this), i was on vicoden for a very short time. I couldnt sleep, it would make me jerk up right before i would fall asleep. It was horrible.

I then switched to percocets...... I really like percs, i wouldnt get tired, but i could fall asleep when i had to....

How did you manage to injure yourself in such a fashion? Are you an athlete?

Sounds serious. Anyway I know some people get really mellow when they're on Vicodin but from the sound of the people here, that doesn't seem all that common.

I just had my ACL reconstruction surgury, and they gave me vicoden as well.
(Almost off crutches!)

I couldn't really tell it did anything to deaden much pain, but i took it anyway.

Only once i started to feel sorta woozy and nauseus, other than that, it didn't do anything to me at all.

It gave me really restless dreams and made it very hard to sleep for me. I'd sleep, but it wouldn't be restful, I'd just toss and turn all night.

I had a combination Vicodin+Ibuprofin I think, it did seem to help the pain, but regular Motrin worked just as well and I could sleep at least.

Killed the pain, but made me very very very short tempered. I haven't taken it since.

Vicodin makes me very tired and lethargic. It also constipates me so needless to say I am not going to become a Vicodin junky any time soon.

I tore my distal biceps tendon off of the insertion point on my radius. They gave me hydrocodone the week before surgery and oxycodone after the surgery. The oxy was MUCH stronger. Both made me a hair dizzy and dry mouthed, but like most opiates, didn't really make me feel good, just sort of irratable and a hair depressed. Some MUCH stronger opiates from my long ago past made me vomit, very itchy and feel like I was feverish. I doubt I'd ever be an opiate addict since I don't enjoy the feeling.

After the surgery, I was on oxycodone around the clock and after about three or four days just stopped and took nothing for the pain. It was starting to make me feel depressed and not care about anything and just feel down. Feeling normal with pain was much better than drugged and pain free.

It all started when I had reconstructive surgery for a ruptured ACL and torn medial meniscus in my right knee back in '93.

Had two more arthroscopic surgeries since then to clean out the knee, remove a screw, etc.

In '96, I tore the ACL in my left knee... never got it fixed. Now, years later it acts up, and I limp around for a bit, and kind of gets better on its own.

Well this last flareup caused me to limp around for the better part of a week, and I ended agitating my achilles tendon, which made me limp worse, which threw my back out of whack, which made me limp worse, which caused bursitis in my hip.

Achilles is healing little by little, knee is decent, back is okay, but my hip is just outrageously painful.

Vicodin (hydrocodone) did nothing for me. Now Combunox (oxycodone), Combunox ...

Hydrocodone and Oxycodone are roguhly equivalent in potency. You must have had differing amounts of the two in their respective pills.

Oxy and Hydro both make me feel *very* content with the world. I do, however, notice the irritability that can come about, but thats usually because I don't want the contentment to be disturbed by some sort of onerous task or conversation. It takes a few times to really get used to the vicodin euphoria. Laying in bed and relaxing to some music is alot better than, let's say, mowing the lawn. Although I do find that doing housework is a helluva lot more tolerable with than without.

The only real annoying side effect is that it makes me overeat. Its harder to stick to a restricted diet while on it, because the content feeling makes me no longer care about the "worry" of trying to lose weight. Obviously, I still control myself for the most part, its just that a detachment from worries comes with this drug. I can see why heroin is so addictive and debilitating.

Because of a torn MCL, I am currently on a regimen of Vicodin ES.

Not me. 2 pills and it's plug city.

On the few occasions that I took it, I washed it down with stool softener.

Not from what I've read. Oxycodone is roughtly 1.5 times more potent, although it's analgesic properties last for an hour or so less.

Finally had time to pick up my new meds. All they did was adjust my dosages of hyrdocode/acetaminophen from 5mg/1000mg to 10mg/325mg. I'm still taking two and they seem to work a bit better. There's definitely more going on that just hip bursitis... since I get a searing, shooting pain from my lower back that runs to my toes during certain movements. I guess X-rays, an MRI, and some therapy are next.

What's strange is that they also gave me Trazodone, which is mainly an anti-depressant, but does have some sleep advantages.

I use to go on some major cleaning spells back when I was in to taking pain killers for fun. Once I'd start, I couldn't quit and my place never looked so good. They've always made me feel constructive or creative when on them. But once they start wearing off, I'm usually just irritable and tired.
