What are your SAT scores?

Just for curiosity guys,

Do Colleges look at SAT II scores when chosing applicants?

How about if I do really well in the SAT I's ( reasoning ) but get ridiculously low scores in the SAT II's?

Automatically disqualified although the student 'proved to be a genius' in the SAT I?

Also, how would colleges in the United States treat students whose native language is not English? Are they expected to get a score of 700+ in the verbal section of the SAT?

I missed one on the math too. Jacked up thing is that I missed like 3-4 on verbal, but still got an 800. It's those silly asian immigrants, aceing the math and bombing verbal, they're screwing with my curve!

from what i understand colleges look at both, sat 1 is a reasoning test, sat 2 are subject tests.

The University of California has decided to doulbe to value of Sat II's so each Sat II counts at much as the Sat I. And then if you are applying to certain majors like I am: EECS at UC Berkley I hear they put for weight on Math IIC. Do they cap GPA at berkley? The booklet says its up to each college to decide.

Ah so Snow and Learned Halls are your homes away from home, eh? I was Business myself. Walked down the hill last May. I still live in Lawrence... glad that school is back in session--the bars have been dead.

Insanitation,
In the large scheme of things, WE don't matter. What's your point? 😉 Just teasing ya.

Duckers,
If we aren't telling the truth, then WTH's the point? It's like TK'ing in CS or trolling in forums: incredibly stupid and boring.

And I don't know about individual college's entrance requirements, but I'd imagine it would be better to do better on the SAT II's. It's more likely to show that you put effort into your classes and have actually learned the material. Colleges hate slackers. Of course, I imagine they hate slackers who masquerade as good students even more. *grin*

oh, I'm getting there. Not quite a Learned recluse yet. But ugh, 120 Snow, I've had 3 classes there, and multiple tests.

EpsiIon- When has the lack of a point ever stopped people? There are still trolls and TKer's.

Hehe, as long as you're a slacker National Merit scholar, they don't mind...

EpsiIon,

Please forgive me and don't take it seriously, I was attempting to make a joke.
I am sure that you realize that an SAT score does not reflect sh\t about your intelligence.

Many years ago when I took the SAT getting a 1600 was national news. These days there are many people each year that get 1600's. This tells me that either the test is easier then it was, or, students are prepared much better for it.

The difference is that SAT scores are recentered now, you can miss some and still get 800 on verbal. I don't think its possible to miss any on math to get 800. Many ppl at my school have 1600's, big whoop.

I live in Canada (so I never wrote the SAT), but I was at a conference in the States where there were tons of students who got 1600s on their SATs. And they were pretty normal. And they acted like it was no big deal. One of them told me that if you study a little, anyone can do it. So of course, I've always had a warped idea of what good SAT scores are.

Just because people bitch about missing questions and getting 800 verbals. Imagine how I feel with my verbal score devalued 🙂:

SAT I (jr. year of HS):
800 Verbal (no questions missed)
730 Math (3 questions missed)

BTW, I'm currently enjoying what amounts to full tuition, fees, and some room&board as part of a New Jersey initiative to keep top students at in-state (public) colleges by using a sliding scale based on class rank and SAT I scores. The year I graduated, the top award was $7500/year; current graduates can get full ride, including room&board, but only at public in-state colleges.

Truthfully, if you're a top top student...you're gonna get sh!t for scholarships...so don't count on your SAT scores, class rank, AP classes, etc. to pay for anything at the school you have your heart set on. From experience, I found that my grades, extra-curriculars, etc. meant absolutely nothing to most schools and I received neither acceptance nor scholarship offers regardless of my class rank (#1 in a class of nearly 500, never dropping out of top 1%), my SAT scores, my SAT 2 scores (all comparably high), my National Merit standing (full Scholar...I think I got something like $500 from VT for it..yipee...books for a semester), my full semester's worth of AP classes (I'm graduating early thanks to them), and my extra-curriculars (every office in my local first aid cadet squad, among other things).

They're just numbers...nobody cares...get a job and pay for school yourself 🙂

I don't care what people say about how "sat's aren't a measure of your intelligence," but you guys gotta admit that it does take some wit, logic, etc etc to ace the SATs...so let epsilon, et al brag a little, they deserve it (emphasis is on "little&quot😉.

btw, I haven't taken my SATs yet but I did take my psat and got an equivalent of 1000 on the SAT 🙁 (although I didn't study). you guys just got me motivated to stop procrastinating and actually go study now...

...well, maybe later 😉

SAT I
Math - 730
Verbal - 710

SAT II
Math (not sure what it's called; the higher one) - 770
Writing - 790
Bio - 670

-mosdef

Demon-Xanth, got same exact scores as you 🙂 -> 790 Math, 520 Verbal -> pretty sad verbal score if you ask me (especially born in US and first language) 😀

SAT 2:
Math IC - 670 i think (not too sure)
Bio - 530 i think
Writing - 610 i think

To those applying for college: I really don't think these scores make TOO much of a difference now ... sure, it's nice to have a good score, but look at what I got...nothing fancy at all and I got into
Johns Hopkins regular admission (no early decision)...just make sure you do extracuricular activites and other stuff...even if you have to make it up 😉

Those are some pretty good scores! better than mine anyways...

I got a 1320. I only studied for it the night before, I probably should have studied more.

Btw, I am 13.

dang eyor that's a real good score for being 13! They expect you to increase by 100 pts each year, or that's what I heard once.

I'm taking the SAT in March, on the PSAT I made 77 math (only omitted one question, danghit!), 72 verbal, and 75 writing

took them in 7th grade once, got a 1150. I'm 17 so i've only taken the PSAT and a few satIIs since.
On the PSAT i got a 1380, 720 math 660 verbal
SATII's
Bio 800
Chem 770
