What are your predictions for this upcoming war with Iraq?

this really shouldn't be called a war, they need to come up with some new name because this is silly. I mean are any of us REALLY worried that we might lose? or that we feel threatend in some way?

Maybe something the lines of a slaughtering or a long deserved beating.

I predict at least 20,000 more posts on this topic that will come to no real conclusions and just generally drag OT down even further.

OT is such a fun place to be anymore....

Leave if you don't like it. Everyone else seems to have no problems with this thread or any other war thread.

I predict that it will happen with in the next two months. Nobody will side with Iraq or they can kiss their ties to the civilized world goodbye! Dont worry though the world will continue to spin.🙂

its funny how 'civilized' is such a relative term.

I just got word that my friend in the Marines is being shipped to Kuwait. 🙁 So I predict that we easily kick their butts and everyone gets home safely.

*wishful thinking*

They have a word for that, invasion.

Oil hyuck! thats why we took over the oil in the Gulf War, right?

Operation Unleaded $0.999 is much better. I say war will start mid-March, and will last roughly 45 days if things go well. Else it will be a while, and we'll have a bunch of peace loving hippies running in the streets of LA.

Why do people say that? The price of gas went up during and after Desert Storm, not down. I remember it clearly, as I worked in the auto industry at the time. The price of gas did not go down, and car sales did not go back up, until late Summer '92, more than a year after.
This "war with Iraq" will drive the price of oil up, not down. That's my 2nd prediction.

The Iraq people will be liberated from the wacko despot Suddam. And their oil revenues will be used to benifit the Iraq people and rebuild Iraq.

I heard on or about March 15th. The outcome, I think we'll win.

I suppose "we'll win" in the short run. But this will become another in a series of heavy-handed military actions by the U.S. (that we feel entitled to do because we can -- might making right) that the next generation growing up in the less priviledged world will remember. We may stop Saddam from possessing the same weapons of mass destruction that we already have, but we'll probably be creating the next wave of Osama's in the process.

🙁

HC, not to worry, your friend will be just fine...

Bush just published his newest budget, the Pentagon is getting $380 Billion, and that doesn't include anything for the war in Iraq. There are benefits to spending half the entire planet's military budget, you get to fight and win wars without any concern for losing, any real concern for your own losses, and your only real concern is how many innocent civilians you kill by mistake.

It's absurd actually, if you think about it. 😀

As long as Jermaine O'neal doesn't come along and attempt to block a nuke at the last second, then all things should go according to plan with the US winning in thrilling fashion... 😉

note: i am however, against war.

muahahaha
What kind of idiotic question is this or is your Media feeding you such BS

my god how dense can ppl be....

pissing off communists and muslims will be the End of the USA in the future.
we are a bunch of Sallies.....we call in sick for work...cant stand not having air conditioning...eat fast food...
We suck

Damn I love America.....Gimme some Pizza!

US 4, Iraq 3 in extra innings, the Iraqis will have the bases loaded in the top of the 13th but our superior relief pitching will save it and then we'll overpower their relief.

Like it or not, I predict by Wed. evening (this week) we'll all be glued to the TV and talking about what's going on in Iraq. I then predict the operation will be successfull and take less than 30 days to complete. Again, it would have been nice to solve this peacefully, but, lack of cooperation/patience/understanding has come from both sides and other countries................I can see both views but it looks has if the time is nearly upon us and war is inevitable.

EndGame, pretty much. I'll be watching the TV set. The campaign won't take long. I rather hope the Bush folk graciously allow the free press to fully cover this one both during and after the war. When Afghanistan ended coverage nearly ended shortly after. I'd like to see how things go down after this one.

It will probably start on a Thursday at midnight, too. Gives the Iraqis the following day, a holy day, to mull over surrender.

I am sure it will be. Saw the reporters supply list for those traveling with marines. Granted I doubt many would want to travel with the marines after reading the list.

If the US goes to war, expect the 'war' to only last 100 - 150 hours. Minimal US casualties (<100), probably less than 10,000 iraqis dead. The region will collapse, terrorism will increase, and anti-US sentiment will skyrocket.
