So I'm trying to put together a couple of compilation albums with some good metal songs, so far here's what I have -

1. Slipknot - The Blister Exists (this song kicks ass)
2. Slipknot - Duality
3. Soulfly - Porrada
4. A Perfect Circle - Magdalena

Megadeath - Trust
Fear Factory - Full Metal Contact
Cold - No One
Black Sabbath - War Pigs
Drowning Pool - Let The Bodies Hit The Floor
Fly Banger - Calvary
Full Devil Jacket - Mainline
Godsmack - Best I Ever Did
Hed PE - Bartender
Ill Nino - What Comes Around
Lo Fideltiy Allstars - BattleFlag
Monster Magnet - Space Lord
Pantera - Cemetary Gates
Prong - Controller
Prong - Territorial Rites
RATM - Bulls On Parade
SevenDust - Black
Soil - Redefine
Static X - Cold

That'd be a damned good start

give your definition of metal. judging by your choices, you must like the more modern stuff

I like old school metal too, I'm just a little more familar with the newer stuff

Opeth: really anything, Blackwater Park, Deliverance (albums) are some good 'hard' songs you're probably looking for. Progressive metal
Meshuggah: Again, anything really
Slayer: Same as above

PS the stuff you listed is hardly metal.. define what you mean by metal.

Mushroomhead - Solitaire Unraveling
Mudvayne - Dig, Not Falling
Korn - Rise
Pantera - Cemetary Gates

These aren't necessarily favorites, but you might check them out.

You should look up the Resident Evil movie soundtrack. It has several decent metal songs on there. Remixes of Dig by Mudvayne, What comes around by Ill Nino, and several others I forget at the moment.

Also, the Scorpion King soundtrack has a few good metal ones, not great, but pretty good. You'll just have to look past the Nickelback and Hoobastank thats on there too.

Metallica - Orion or Enter Sandman
Megadeth - Holy Wars
Black Sabbath - Snow Blind
Iron Maiden - Hallowed be thy name
Slayer - Hell Awaits
Testament - Disciples of the Watch
Iced Earth - Burning Times
Judas Priest - Electric Eye or Cathedrial Spires
In Flames - Episode 666
Black Label Society - Genocide Junkies
Pantera - Cemetary Gates
Ozzy - Shot in the Dark
Godsmack - Get up Get Out
Anthrax - Caught in a Mosh
Exodus - Toxic Waltz
Annihilator - Stone Wall

Helloween - Electric Eye.
Much better.

Masterplan - Black Dog (cover of Led Zep song).
Masterplan - Enlighten me
Gamma Ray - Heavy Metal Universe
Rhapsody - Dawn of Victory
Sinergy - Rock you like a hurricane.
Dragonforce - Fury of the storm
Clawfinger - B!tch (IIRC)
Manowar - Manowar

Some of the best metal albums (IMO):

All early Black Sabbath with Ozzy (until Sabotage) - best songs: War Pigs, Paranoid, Fairies wear Boots, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Planet Caravan, many more

Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow (first album with Dio) - best song: Man on the Silver Mountain

Iron Maiden (Number of the Beast and Piece of Mind) - best songs: Number of the Beast, Run to the Hills, The Trooper, Where Eagles Dare, Die with your Boots On, Flight of Icarus

Ozzy Osbourne (Blizzard of Ozz, Diary of a Madman) - best songs: Crazy Train, Suicide Solution, Mr. Crowley, Flying High Again

Motley Crue (Shout at the Devil) - best songs: Looks that Kill, Shout at the Devil

All early Metallica (until ... And Justice for All) - best songs: too many to list

Megadeth (Peace Sells, Rust in Peace, Countdown to Extinction, and the song "Trust" off Cryptic Writings) - best songs: Peace Sells, Holy Wars, Rust in Peace, Symphony of Destruction, Sweating Bullets, Trust

Guns n' Roses (Appetite for Destruction): no bad songs on that album

Alice in Chains (Facelift -- this is metal, the rest of their albums were "grunge") best songs: We Die Young, Man in the Box, Real Thing (pretty much all of them)

Rage Against the Machine (RATM) - best songs: no bad songs on that album

There are many more, of course, but IMO these are the best and most influential albums in the history of metal, more or less in chronological order since Black Sabbath mixed Led Zeppelin with Cream and their own sound and invented the entire genre.
