I was wondering what kind of shows are credible for things like politics and news :) and what shows people here like to watch.

i listen to a lot of npr.
i suppose pbs is just as good...but i dont watch a lot of tv.
i do watch c-span. and while people may find problems with my other two selections, i imagine one would be hard pressed to complain about the c-span coverage.

Nova, and Nature. I've stopped watching most news on TV. I sometimes watch 60 minutes if they are having something intersting on. I do also watch the local news.

I usually just click around and stop whenever I see something interesting. I do usually watch NBC Nightly News as my evening news show. I like Meet the Press and the Sunday show that George Stephanopolous hosts. I watch some of the news magazine shows if they have an interesting looking story - 60 Minutes, 20/20, Dateline, etc. Whenever there's some sort of breaking story I'll turn to CNN or MSNBC. I also like to watch the Weather Channel when there's a hurricane or snowstorm, and they have some good weather history stuff as well.

Another  for the History Channel.

PatboyX, I like the local PBS station as well. I've been taping a film with several parts this summer about the state's history. There's some really great stuff on it for school.

Edit: And when I first saw the thread title I was going to post - Schoolhouse Rock. :)

 Yeah I like those shows, too. I am also a closet Antiques Roadshow junkie. I like to see people strike it rich off of what they thought was junk.

Will & Grace is an excellent documentary show.

24 is a fantastic look into terrorism.

The OC is pretty good to catch up on current events.

...I primarily watch the History Channel in terms of educational TV.

yeah, i get three different "local" pbs stations as well as a seperate "nj news" network. im pretty sure its a 24 hour nj news station. id like all the nj haters out there just to think about that. maybe, if they are really bad, ill send them some footage.

school house rock was the best. every so often, someone ends up using it at work and i find a reason to hang about their classroom fixing problems they didnt know they had.

Glen Beck on the radio. It is more entertainment then acutal news. Not many news programs or even weekly TV Shows actually worth watching. Actually just listen to the TV quite a bit. We often watch PBS and some occassional news shows like frontline or occassionally FOX or CNN. I cant get CNN and FOX at home because I am too cheap. Network news is all buildup and very low on quality or content.

You are better off with educational magazines, newspapers and books.
TV is a half assed attempt to really get informed.

There are many good Documentaries out there, discovery is the best imo.
