I hate letting anyone borrow my dvds. I am so bad I have alphabatized them and profile them with DVD profiler. Second to that are my computers and software. Thrid is my car and anyone eating or drinking in it.

My computer, pocket pc, and my cameras. I always secure them or watch others as they are handling them.

My computer(s). To me, a computer is a personal item... if I let you use my computer, don't change my desktop wallpaper, don't change my web browser's home page, don't download a bunch of crap and save it in My Documents, don't open documents or pictures, and don't check my e-mail for me. Fortunately I don't have to share my desktop with anyone but family, and they have their own Windows user accounts. Nobody but me is allowed to use my laptop. :)

My suitemates have a long-running joke in changing people's wallpapers to nasty stuff like tubg!rl, goats3, or lem0nparty.

I did that to a suitemate of mine. He LEFT IT THERE for a couple days. That was the last time I did it.

One of my suitemates used gpedit to disable changing the background. Man, was that evil.

My computer, my car, and my surfboard, those are really the only things that are worth a damn. No, you can not borrow or use any of those things.

Nothing that I can think of. I'm pretty laid back when it comes to my possessions. Want to borrow the Benz or the Audi? Sure, just bring it back how it left. Feel free to eat in my car as long as you don't make a massive mess. I'm an adult. My friends are adults. It isn't really a big deal. Borrow something? Just bring it back when you are through. You forget? Not a big deal, I'm sure I forgot something I borrowed from you as well. In reality, all my friends and I are pretty laid back. Need gas money? Hit me back next week. Need a ride? Sure. And vice-versa -- it works on both sides. If I need a ride or some cash they are happy to do it.

I don't "get" you people that are stingy and assholish about the things you own. At least not to friends. Some random nut? Sure. Your friends and family? WTF is your problem? And bitching about a computer? As long as they aren't downloading spyware or bestiality who gives a sh!t?

For me it is a matter of monetary value, I spent to get it and really can't and won't afford to replace it sohuld something happen.

any of my possessions.

the rugged-ness of the item factors in to whether i allow others to use them (and how they are allowed to handle items).

no one drives my vette but my father, my brother and me (mom isn't comfortable driving stick shift and is sure as hell uncomfortable driving the vette; although i do get her to drive it once in a while when im in the car).

i let one of my best buds (who's also a dj) borrow my mackie srm450s. they're made to be tranported and are quite rugged. i trust him with them but im also very protective of them. i dropped a ton of money on my speaks and want them to remain in mint condition.

I don't place a monetary value on friends and family. Unless someone is abusing your possessions or doesn't reciprocate then I don't see the problem.
