Gift certificates. Had to go small since they are coming to my place for Christmas and have no way of bringing bigger stuff back home with them.

Dad: 50 pack of DVD+R's and the Complete Far Side Collection

Mom: Giant Clothes Hamper, 1000 page Home Decorating book, and 4 DVD's wrapped together; Seabiscuit, Chocolat, Sliding Doors, & Cider House Rules.

That's cold, unlike you, after 30 years after thier death, I still care for my parents, cheap bastard.

Mom is getting a silver necklace with a single pearl in it

Dad is getting a new spear-gun (for diving)

They are getting "together" gifts, too:
- A book
- 3 tiny angel ornaments with the names of their 3 grand daughters on them
- framed pics of my daughter :)

Daddy - loves food, can't enjoy it as much because of his sickness/adult-onset diabetes... :( I got him a cheese wheel and a massage gift certificate.

Mom - wants a Fendi purse, I can't afford it even if I split the cost with all of my sisters... I'm shopping for a quality imitation for her, mommy also gets a fondue set and a massage gift certificate.

You're giving your mother a pearl necklace? :Q ;)

Seriously: Sent my mother a gift certificate and a Christmas card (short on funds at the moment). Didn't get my father anything for various reasons, including the fact that he's a cold-hearted bastard.

I don't believe it.

The thing about Christmas is that it is a bitter sweet time, particularly as we get older.Relationships end via death, divorce, and sometimes just the sad recognition that some relationships are just toxic. Not having contact with my parents is probably the best gift...for me at any rate. Besides, the nice thing about growing up is though you can't choose your blood family, you can go out and surround yourself with people who love you.. and I have suceeded in doing that.

On a happier note we got my SO'S parent's a cool new dvd player and a nice gift card to blockbuster's

I was just joking around. Lighten up.

BTW

Your parents don't need your caring. You do that for yourself.

And unlike you, my parents are still alive and I buy them more than flowers.
