I'm gonna be building a computer and I want to check out some places for stuff like case, cpu, mb, ram, cdrw, hard drive.... etc...

where do you guys shop for all that stuff?

I'll second that. I get my 80mm Panaflo case fans from bgmicro.com though, and mwave.com isn't bad either, I got my EPOX motherboard from there when newegg didn't have them in stock.

 
u crazy man....newegg has probably the best selection for the comp builder.....
newegg simply is the number 1 online computer parts store on the internet...hands down..no questions asked...best store evar...unparalell customer service..nothing beats its customer service, reliability, shipping times, quality, etc etc...overall the best store...although not the best priced store...(and a lot of times it is the best priced store..) u get what u buy....nicely packed and shipped fast....the site's tracking thing is awesome...

u can also chk googlegear (esp for RAM) and essencompu.com

directron.com has decent prices for psu's

 
NewEgg for most everything, especially OEM stuffs. Essential Computers as a fallback.

SVC for insane deals on select cooling equipment, cases, and cables. 2cooltek and Sidewinder computer for harder to find cooling stuff at a higher price.

Amazon for retail peripherals, particularly mice, keyboard, joysticks, gamepads, networking, flashram, etc.

mwave.com is starting to get good now...well, ratings are bad i knw, but since they're really close to me, i just go willcall and had no problems really..cuz i can actually see the look @ the product when i willcall and complain if i have a problem..but so far none...

yeah chk the hotdeals forums...
 
Newegg is the only one, awesome RMA policy (My GA-7VRXP ver 1.1 died and I had a brand new 2.0 version in my hands 2 days after they got it)

I used to feel that way, but NewEgg's notoriety leads to them being OOS a lot 🙁 Also, their selective price premiums are frustrating. If an item is hot or internet chatter deems the item to be in high demand (read: positive new reviews and forum talk), prices skyrocket. :| Their free FedEx saver policy mitigates their practice of basing shipping on total product cost; I think they are the only place on the planet that charges you the same shipping rate for 2 items regardless of packaging, weight, or size (1 item weighs 2 lbs and costs $5 ship, 2nd item weights 1 ounce and costs $5 to ship, yet shipping is still $10 :| )

I've ordered from Mwave before and the service is good, but their shipping/pricing is behind the times. Their website is also pretty poor for those last minute comparisons/research.

Can't beat NewEgg though for carrying the bleeding edge in mobos, cpus, and video cards. They always got 'em in a huge selection. Plus their insane volume and direct RMA relationship with mfgs. leads to lots of refurb deals. 😀
