Yeah, the first couple time we bought it, we didn't know the bottles were returnable, oops.- Not only is Strauss milk delicious (not ultra pasturized, non homogenized, cream on top) the glass bottle program to reduce waste is incredible. The model should be adopted for a lot more food packaging.
Reminds me of my FIL's grumpy old man routine " When we were kids we had recycling... It was called washing glass bottles"
I wonder if glass bottles do limit waste. Takes a lot of fuel to handle glass. Biggest benefit I see, is feral glass is pretty harmless. Plastic OTOH can cause mischief. That's a serious question btw. I think it would take an intensive analysis to determine which is truly more "environmental" when everything's considered.
