What are you an expert at that can benefit ATOT?

Actually, isn't she a dentist?

That's what I thought.

I'm pretty knowledgeable about distance running - I've been training and racing over a variety of distances for 12 years now. I've logged over 20,000km and more injuries than I can count . But I've been healthy for almost a year now.

I have decent knowledge of Word, RoboHelp and FrameMaker (in that order) as I use those programs at work. Not an expert by any means though.

What is the name of Satan?

I don't think any "proper" name is given, and most names used are descriptive or analogous terms like dragon, "adversary" (which is what "Satan" means, in a legal sense like a prosecutor in our modern courts), angel of light, prince of the power of the air, morning star, lord of the flies (essentially implying waste or dung, i.e. the basest things), evil spirit (devil), prince of this world, etc.

Was testing you to see how much you do know compared to me. I think I'll be the closest thing to an expert here on anything concerning the bible.

How come the bible not once mentions cats?

Large cats, like leopards and lions, are mentioned.

If you mean domesticated cats, I don't see why their lack of presence in the Bible would be important. Unless you are some kind of lolcat fan or something and feel the need to have cats everywhere. In which case 😱

so far crono has established himself as the expert... yet you declared that YOU were the expert. i was requesting proof. 😛

Chrono didn't establish himself as an expert. He only stated that he probably knows more than anyone else on anandtech on the subject, which he probably does. My question was the easiest way to determine the knowledge of someone on the subject of the bible, and while his answer is better than what most people(even Christians) could give, there are incorrect portions of his answer. The bible is the least read best seller of all time. There are many things spoken of in churches today, straight out of a pastor's mouth, that are plain wrong. They are common beliefs that are inaccurate to the bible.

Crono - in the New Testament, is homosexuality ever called a sin by Jesus directly (not through Paul)?

Not to my knowledge.

Like Malak was saying, Jesus' message was not focused on what constituted violations of God's law, which is what the Old Testament did, but more on explaining the "spirit" or intent of the law, which was to bring about salvation from sin, and point to the one (Christ) who could save man from the penalty of sin.

You can't separate Jesus' teachings from the OT, nor from the rest of the NT. The Bible as a whole forms God's word. Jesus established His church (not a specific denomination, but the universal church) and commissioned the apostles, including Paul, to preach the word of God. It's amazing to me that many people are still attacking Paul to this day, even though every inspired word of scripture which forms his epistles is in accordance with the rest of the Bible.

Yes, homosexuality is sin according to scripture. Why is it a sin? Because it violates God's law and God's plan. From the very beginning of humankind, man was meant to be with woman, and woman with man; one woman and one man in the union of marriage. Even the consummation of this demonstrates that it is the natural and good thing, because it can (though obviously doesn't always) and does result in something we can all be grateful for: new life.

Man is not designed to have sex with another man, nor a woman with another woman. It doesn't matter if you or I think it is fine or not, it's what God has said that matters. I'm not here to condemn people; you don't see me go around calling down fire to smite people, or protesting on the streets against homosexuality, or against divorce, or other sins.

Jesus didn't come to condemn the world, though, but to save it. The gospel message is to turn away from sin (repent) and follow Christ, and this message is for all those who are willing to do so. I don't preach to force people or shove my beliefs down their throats, but what I share I share to all those who are willing to hear the truth, accept it, and follow it.

I'm pretty knowledgeable about cell phones and service....also type 1 diabetes.

I'm also dabbling in Christian apologetics.

I wouldn't call myself an expert at anything, but I'd be capable of teaching a few things such as:

Weapons handling
Cam/concealment
Close quarters combat
Fieldcraft
Building computers
Unix
