Any big cities nearby that start with a letter D? Maybe they might be german. They have those types of stickers all around here, for my town it's NBPT.

D stands for Deutschland aka Germany

in Europe most cars have them for the country of their origin

I ride with a PL sticker on mine, stands for Poland

D=Germany
GB=Great Britain etc.

In Europe they tell where the car is from which means something in a world where so many countries are connected by highways.

When you see them in this country they are nothing more than a quanit way of saying "I am of <insert country of origin> heritage"

Exactly, these stickers have to be on the cars if u are abroad and they designate ur country of origin
Nowadays u have those Euro license plates which already state the appropriate letter so that the stickers are not needed anymore
anyway D-germany
NL-Holland
S-Sweden
RUS-Russia and so on
