What are the symptoms of a processor that is too hot?

My system has been behaving badly (blue screening fairly regularly), but I haven't installed any new hardware. I took a look at the CPU temp and it was up around 66C. Is this too hot? If so, what kinds of problems would I expect. I have a 1200 T-bird and an IWILL KA266R.

Thanks

66C is a bit on the high side. Have you cleaned your heatsink recently as in remove all the dust that may have been generate? Also, how is the cooling in your case? Did you use a thermal pad or paste with your heatsink? If paste, try applying some more.

Yeah, sounds like your CPU is overheating. You might consider listing some of the cooling specs of your rig so we can try to help you out.

The symptoms of an Athlon processor overheating are typically automatic shut off (bios enabled) and system hangs/crashes. These hangs/crashes may affect Windows bootup and may lead to blue screens.

get a little bit of water on your hand...now quickly touch your hsf...was it hot? if yes, then ur cpu is hot!

if u touch ur hsf, and its not hot but ur bios is telling you 66c, you have a bad hsf install!
