What are the previous version requirements for WinXP Pro Upgrade?

Will a Win98SE Upgrade CD suffice? I remember hearing a long time ago that it will work. I have the "full" Win98SE Upgrade. By "full" I mean the one that lets you install Win98SE clean from DOS, not the cheap Upgrade (more like Update) CD that makes you install from Windows.

I believe that the consumer line (95, 98, ME) are valid for upgrading to Home, while the professional line (NT, 2000) will do Pro.

You can upgrade from 98, ME, NT4, and 2k to XP Pro. You can upgrade from 98 and ME to XP Home. 95 is no longer a supported upgrade path I believe.

Right, but what about the fact that I have Win98SE Upgrade rather than Win98SE full version? Does that affect anything?

No. You should be fine. If you have Windows 98 and later, including upgrades, you may upgrade to XP Pro. XP Home cannot be upgraded from 2000 being the only major limitation. You may have trouble doing a clean install using the 98SE upgrade disc, of that I don't know, but you may always do an upgrade install. I would reccomend doing a clean format and starting from scratch if you are coming from 98, esp. if you have been using it for a while.
