The X570 motherboard in my AMD 3900X based system died. What are the options for replacement? The system is basically a media server.

1. The selection for new X570 motherboards is not that great.
2. I can order a X570 mb via Newegg from Hong Kong, What is the experience of sourcing components from Hong Kong?
3. There are X570 motherboards available on ebay. But I have had less than satifactory experiences with ebay..
4. I could build a totally new system.

Thank you advance

If you're unsure of the other components then this is the best option since you're spending a decent chunk of money on the mobo already and might end up down a rabbit hole of parts if that's not the only thing not working. Prices on am5 are low now that Zen 5 has released.

I am sure about the other components, cpu, gpu, PS, and RAM. At first I thought the problem was the boot drive and I have replaced that. Will I have to replaced the RAM and CPU if I go with a AM5 motherboard?

Yes, but you can sell off the old stuff and gain a ton of performance.

The new platform runs DDR 5 and 7000 CPU. Prices are down on both...

Depending on what you use it for you gain 1ghz in speed. If you game with it then the X3D might be an advantage but the X is what I'm using currently as a server CPU and now that it's a bit older it's significantly cheaper. Both versions though are $50 cheaper than they were a year ago.

For the MOBO if you dig trough Amazon you should be to snag a X670E for ~$150 depending on the options you need. I gabbed an ASRock PG Lightning for $160 and the only thing that was wrong with it was the UEFI was the initial release and needed to be updated. Though it did take testing 3 different versions to get it smoothed out but, recent versions have been working just fine.

DDR 5 - I grabbed 32GB for ~$75 at the time as well which is cheaper than the initial release with Intel a year prior and inventory was dismal and being scalped for 3X+ what it should have been

For the cooler I went with a PA120 for $35 and with dual fans it keeps temps in check pretty well.

Overall I ended up spending $900 for a complete rebuild other than the OS NVME and that includes the A380 GPU I added for media conversions since AMD doesn't do QSV which exponentially speeds those up and cuts the power draw and time considerably for $100.
