What are the odds of running this dual channel?

I picked up a stick of PQI, 1 gig, 3200 from Fry's a few weeks ago, was cheap after a Mail-In_Rebate

I was thinking of getting an additional stick from here

Also, would it be worth it and if I went SLI could I still keep the memory?

Currently have an Chaintech Apogee NJL1 and a 2500+ 333 Barton

They should run dual channel, if the timings are different, they'll just default to the slowest stick.

Would it be worth it? Depends... dual channel with Athlon XP's doesn't do much because the FSB is still only 333-400 MHz even though the memory bandwidth is double that with dual channel. It helps a little bit because then the CPU doesn't have to share bandwidth with any devices that use DMA.

If you actually do things that need more than 1 GB of RAM, by all means, get a second stick. Otherwise, you're not going to see much benefit.

And... system RAM has nothing to do with SLI.. so yes, you could still keep the memory.

I can't see why it wouldn't run dual channel. If the spec timings are different, just go into your BIOS and set the timings manually to the highest of the two sticks.

SLI . . . that's something I'm not going to touch, much. I think each person should make up their own mind. I'm using it as a long term upgrade strategy, but I haven't bought my second card yet, so I can't tell you if it has worked out. And you'll be fine to move the ram over.

Edit: Hmmm . . . too slow, again.

I know how cyclical the memory market is and wanted to get some more while the prices are rock bottom and wondered if it would be worth it.

Still debating on whether or not to go with an SLI board as well or just get a better AGP video card as well.

Currently have an Asus V8420 Ti4200 128Mb

If you go with an SLI board you HAVE to get a new motherboard, processor, AND video card. If you're prepared to spend that much, go ahead. It wouldn't be a bad idea since your current setup is getting pretty dated.
