I ordered a 512mb stick of Value Select PC3200 from Newegg. Stuck it in, upped my FSB from 333 to 400 and ran 3dMark, which FROZE! So I ran memtest, and sure enough, errors galore. Tried another slot, no errors on the first pass, lots on the second. Put my Kingston back in and get no errors. So now I haev to RMA. The package says "Reliable. Qualified. Tested. Compatible". I guess not!

i don't have very much knowledge of the athlon xps, but don't they have a fsb of 333? you upped the fsb from 333 to 400, aren't you essentially overclocking? the value selects aren't good overclockers.

Wait, are you OC'ing your CPU? If yes, was it stable at that speed before?

Update your bios first before RMAing the ram - Corsair VS memory has had tons of issues with early bios revisions on nForce2 boards.

Okay I'll update my BIOS. I don't have a floppy drive though so I'll have to make a boot CD!

No, I'm not overclocking anything. The XP Mobile CPUs are unlocked. I believe they are 133 (266) FSB stock, but they are BETTER cores than standard AXPs, which is why they can handle 1.45volts, so 400mhz fsb isn't a problem for them.

I got some last month for my nForce2 rig. It didn't "SPD" out to the right timings. Its advertised at Cas 2.5, but with SPD settings it showed up as Cas 3.0. Then I got errors in Memtest too.

I RMA'd. Guess it could be my out-of-date BIOS (I've got D19's), but I didn't feel like flashing it just to get the ram working.

You're running a 266fsb CPU on 400fsb and your answer to are you overclocking is no?

Being unlocked refers to being able to change the multiplier, not the fsb.

Does the corsair get errors when you run the CPU at its rated speed? (not overclocking)

What do you suppose happens when you increase FSB and lower the multiplier to keep the CPU speed the same?
The CPU's rated speed has nothing to do with anything. It's a MOBILE chip, which means its default speed is 133mhz, which is irrelevant.

So you kept it at 2.0ghz?
