The fact that they're able to all of a sudden give you an 11% raise shows they've just been fucking you for years to see how long you'd take it. I wouldn't feel bad about leaving them in the dust, apart from your coworkers that didn't do anything but might see an increased work load all the same.
Part of the real world though. Don't think too much about it and move on.
Seriously, this. They can suddenly give you an 11% paybump, but until they took you seriously, they were fucking you for 11% less than you were worth.
I pussied out and didn't quit my job, and have been dealing with this for years. Fuckers won't bump me up by $5k base, opening a $20-$25k higher ceiling and better prospects. Nope, they're happy keeping me underemployed.
Unfortunately, I'm getting shit heaped on me right now and am doing so much overtime, I don't have time to look for a real job in earnest. But looks like I'll have about 50 hours * 1.5 to burn after a few more weeks. I know what I'm gonna do...
