A FPS gaming degree would have you graduate with Armed Assault. If your into complexity and realism (not including the AI of course, MP is where its at). I however dislike brainless games with the exception of Crysis on the maps Mesa and Beach. Oh and BF2's Project Reality mod rocks.

There are no must play games of today, you need to go back 4-5 years before you find anything worth playing.

did you just get old and your reflexes started suckin?

or wait, maybe more people started playin and revealing your mediocre skills?

pray, do tell.

Yea... my reflexes must suck that's why I only play games that require actual skill like UT2k4/Q3.

CoD4: last stand/martyrdom/3x frag = game ruined. grenade radius is so huge it's silly. martyrdom limits everything you do and always puts you in a bad position because you have to run away from the person you just killed, even if that means you have to run right inot the enemy.

Crysis is just plain ol' boring. camo-run rinse repeat

Bioshock: I wasn't impressed with the atmosphere, the gameplay is completely generic, the 'hacking' is way too frequent and annoying as hell.

MMORPG's don't even deserve a mention as they are jobs you pay to do, require less than no skill, and are utterly void of any redeeming characteristics.

I could go on and on, but it won't matter because the majority of you will continue to accept the mediocre crap you are fed. If I thought those games were something people could genuinely enjoy, that would be one thing, but they suck so tremendously, and not from a stylistic view but in terms of balance and overall design, that it is really hard for me for me to believe.

Here is my list of games that I feel that had a huge impact on today's pc gaming landscape that I have actually played. Most of these are older titles as I feel newer titles haven't had enough time to determine their long-term impact.

No particular order:

RTS:
Warcraft II
Starcraft (surprised no one else mentioned)
Age of Empires II

RPG:
SSI Forgotten Realms Gold Box series (didn't really want to go back that far, but too great not to mention)
Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale Series
Planescape: Torment (different enough from the other infinity engine games to get its own mention)
Diablo II
Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

FPS:
Max Payne I and II
Ureal Tournament GOTY edition
Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight
Half-Life I series

Adventure/Puzzle:
The Longest Journey

There are servers that warn/kick/ban for last stand and martyr. Not a big fan of the 3x frags either, but I haven't found a server that disallows them.
Fortunately, those same servers also usually disallow bunny hopping and prone abuse.
