What are the most unlikely things in which you take comfort from?

I love drinking ice cold water unlike anyone else I know. I dunno why, but everytime I drink a cup of chilled water, it provides me with some kind of immediate psychological boost and stress relief. This is regardless of how hot or cold the weather is around me. All the people I know (at the very least in the circle of my family, my friends and my work colleagues) prefer hot to lukewarm water unlike me.

In short, drinking chilled water makes me one very happy man. But I also understand it is one of the most unlikely things a person can take comfort from.

So do you take comfort from the most unlikely things in your life?

I'm just thinking how your throat manages that cold water during cold weather. You never get sore throat?

It doesn't get that cold over here in my location in India. Lowest temps in my area is around 8 or 9 degrees Celsius. We don't have anything like freezing temperatures here.

Never had any effects from drinking all that cold water either.

So why just cool water? Why not a cool drink like lemonade with some Rooh Afza and basil seeds or cool glass of watermelon juice? Or how about yummy falooda? And how come you don't get brain freeze? Honestly, you don't sound human to me :p

Just warn me a month before the invasion starts, please :D

Most other americans I know add lots of ice to all their drinks. A nice glass of cold water is very refreshing, even in the winter when its below freezing outside. Also, cold drinks dont cause sore throats. Sore throats are usually due to virus and/or bacteria.

I enjoy a quick 15 minute vacuum with my cordless stick.

It's just so satisfying to quickly grab and either vacuum a small area or quickly do the whole apartment. Since it's so easy quick there's nothing like the feel of a freshly vacuum floor every day.

OK I will say it. Please don't laugh. Picking my nose and playing with the gooey stuff can be pretty soothing. First it is all sticky and slimy. But keep rolling it between the fingers and soon it becomes a rather dry, semi-solid ball. Can't enjoy it as much as I want to, because for me, nose pickings are proportional to the amount of dairy I consume which I have to avoid because else, I get a horrible case of sinusitis. So it's been a while :(

Somehow I've just never associated the words "vacuum-cleaner" and "happiness" myself.

Not that there's anything wrong with that! ;)

I never really enjoyed vacuuming but I always liked the results. But the cordless stick has changed the game and made the mundane task so efficient and quick that it's too easy to do and easy to keep really clean. Makes actually doing the chore an easier event.

I have one of the older Dyson cordless/stick models and while I do appreciate how handy it is the novelty has worn off!

I mainly use it in the car or (you'll love this!) to bag the occasional large and angry "stinging" visitor to my apartment! It's amazingly effective for this just remove the rotating brush.

I remember vacuuming en entire spider egg sack with the shop vac when I first moved into my house and was cleaning up the crawlspace. That was a satisfying "VOMP" sound when it got sucked in.

The happiness bringing cordless vacuum in its natural resting place/habitat

Oh man, you'd have a stroke if you saw my place. No insects or vermin (feral cats are wonderful for deterring the latter) but any given step could be your last. I do find that it helps with keeping my "balance recovery" algos sharp and frosty.

Then squirt a little Raid into the air and slurp that up with the vacuum. Alternatively, just watch it bounce around inside the transparent dust trap for a few days.

More seriously tho, WTF is that? A Japanese killer hornet?

The idea is to AVOID that stuff inside the house at all costs. I've read what the chemicals in MOST of those sprays can do!

And no that's a common "European Hornet" ... which still packs quite a wallop!
