What are the "easier" to use video editors out there for Windows?

I am looking for a selection of "easier-to-use" video editors to conduct both linear and non-linear editing. Price (for the moment) is not an option. If a $500 piece of software is easier (for the relative layman) to use that a $100 pipece of software then so be it.

Please recommend me one or more apps and why you find them so easy to use. Thank you ...

I always find Powerdirector to be more useful. The others seem to be made for right-brained people. The menus and workflow in many adobe products just seem strange to me. The built-in Windows program also works well enough for simple things.

It depends on how involved your editing is going to be. If you are looking for a "simple" editing program that a 5th grader can use to make a feature length production, there's no such thing. Advanced video editing software is not easy to learn because it does so many things. A "simple", easy to use video editor is going to have a lot of limitations, the software is more likely to determine what your editing project will look like than you will.
If you want to spend a little time and learn the basics of video editing, try Adobe Premiere Elements or Sony Studio. They are inexpensive and will get you going on the fundamentals of real video editing. Otherwise, try Windows Movie Maker. Most of the free video editors are either crippled or harder to use than the basic Sony and Adobe products.

Maybe because I grew up messing around with Adobe Premier, but Sony Vegas seems pretty danged easy to me.
