No, the premise of my argument was that a new HYBRID makes no economic sense - it had nothing to do with the fact that NO new car makes economic sense.

If you do all the math, it usually leaves your wallet lighter.
If you pay $3,000 more on a hybrid, you must factor in the potential interest you could have earned on it or interest you've avoided paying by appropriating it to another debt you owe.
