"Hard work"/Calories-burned has nothing to do with how much money one earns (see Econ 101). Buying 10,000 shares of AOL for $3 and selling it for $127 is not "hard work" and yet it is just as legitimate a salary as money earned by brain surgeons, lawyers, mcdonald's workers, and waste managers.
I for one can find infinite uses with a $1 million, that for some reason, is being unused by Mr. Bill Gates and is quietly sitting in his bank account accumulating interest. Not to mention, I am interning for free in the city... factoring the commute; it COSTS me money to work... clearly I can use Bill Gates' "measly" $1 million far more usefully than he ever will. THAT's IRRELEVENT! It's his money, and my need for it doesn't somehow make it mine.
It sickens me that people, especially in this country where private property is something that is protected, foolishly exercise their other right to free speech and loudly proclaim stupid sh*t like "my mommy got a 3rd grade education but she works really really hard, hence your money is no longer yours."
