I need to find a good web host, and I'm just overwhelmed - no idea where to start.

I know some things I need though: 1GB storage, 15GB/mo transfer, MYSQL, PHP. BUT MOST OF ALL, I need it to be FASSSST! It's going to be used for a critical web application to be used by employees at a company to manage records in a database. So updating the database and transfering pages (about 60KB a peice) has to be nearly instant.

What are the best options? sorry, I know a lot of you guys on AT offer web hosting, but since this is for a company, I need to go with something that has a really good long track record.

You could try 1&1's trial offer and see if you like it

6 months free 2GB\50GB.

No strings :)

I got in the 500MB\5GB for 3 years last year. No complaints except the control panel kind of sucks. Tech support is fast and no down time that I've noticed :)

I know TechTV used Rackspace even for the TSS LAN Parties as well. They mentioned numerous times on The Screen Savers that they were a great service.

When it was Leo/Patrick and Patrick/Kevin. The good times, man. The good times, when they actually coverd decent content and actually made progress through an episode. Roger Herin(?) in the lab, used to do excellent work in the lab benchmarking giving info. With Kevin running the show in the labs....not much interesting/practical stuff has been shown. I used to watch TSS religiously, now I practically couldn't care less.
