i've tried raid and little packets from target that are supposedly "food" (poison) that they take back to their nests, but it's been a month and they're everywhere.

does anyone have a fool-proof suggestion when it comes to permanently getting rid of the suckers?

At the grocery store they sell this stuff (in the pesticides aisle) called Combat that looks like a big fat syringe (gold and black colored if I remember right). Just squeeze some of that stuff in your cabinets and in corners and prepare to clean up a big mess (dead or dying roaches everywhere) the next day. First roach killer ive ever used that actually worked better than an exterminator...

I've also had good results with Combat products. I think it was their bait system...looks like a flat round container and has passage ways for the critters to go in and out of.

Looks like Boric Acid is very effective too...interesting article Text

For cockroaches.....they are hard to get rid of.....the only thing that worked in my old house was an extermintor.

I had to use that a few years ago, and it did work really really well.

Better solution - a swarm of mini Chuck Norris's to roundhouse kick them out of existence!

Try making sure no food particles, trash, etc. are left out for them. I've always thought that if you don't have a food supply for pests, then they have no reason to stick around. Having said that - I know that once they find a way to your home, it's hard to get them out. The Combat stuff seems to work pretty good.

I had good luck with a powder called Roach Prufe. Sprinkle it along the baseboards behind the stove, under the sink and wherever else you see them. It won't kill them right away. Takes a couple weeks to work, but once they're gone they won't come back - they don't become immune to it like they do with most types of poison.

I also had good luck with Raid Fumigators, but they always came back after a month or two.

I had to use a similar powder to get rid of spiders in my basement as well.
