What are the best nVidia drivers for the 7900 GTX?

Which drivers are recommended for a 7900 GTX? I was using stock dell drivers for my E1705's 7900 GS before and couldn't really do proper benchmarks with it against my XTX since it wasn't a full fledged GTX (it only had 20pp/7vs).

I've got a Dell M1710 laptop with a full 7900 GTX (24pp/8vs) on the way so I was thinking of clocking it up to desktop speeds and doing a short comparison against my XTX. Aspects I want to focus on include image quality and fraps benchmarks using high image quality settings. The laptop only has 1 GB of ram so I'll remove 1 GB from my desktop. Also, the CPU in the laptop is a Yonah 1.83 dual core so I'm thinking an X2 4400+ at stock speeds should be roughly equivalent to it, what do you guys think? Games I was thinking of testing are the Prey demo, Oblivion (with or without mods?) and BF2. I should have the laptop by Thursday the latest this coming week.

Sounds good Joker. I would use the 91.31's but please use the XG ones they do alot for NV drivers. As far as games go Those look like some good games to bench, I would through FEAR in there as IMO it is one of the hardest FPS games out right now. Oblivion I would use without mods just to make it a standard that everyone could compare. That being said I haven't seen any benchs done with some good mods on Oblivion that make it run harder but look alot better( the texture packs come to mind). Good luck on your bench and keep us up to date.

87.08's, iq is the best out of any recent driver nvidia has released

i have comparison shots that i can find & post if anyone wants to see them

Best old driver: XTreme-G 84.37.v2

Best New Driver: XTreme-G Select 91.31

Both availible at www.tweaksrus.com

Actually, the 91.31's are some of the best drivers I have ever used to date. I have SLI so the SLI popup thing from the system tray never affected me, but their's a fix on the forums if your looking for it.

Also the new 91.33's fix it and I think the Tweakrus has already done tweaking for it and you can get the tweakerizer off their site as well (for that driver).

I almost always use the XTreme-G Drivers. Sometimes going from stock the XG you can't tell the difference, but sometimes there is a difference. Better IQ, better performance, what more could you want...

I think the 84.25's look better. Everything is sharper and the colors look better in the 84.25. But that's just IMO since everybody's computer is different.

@OP, you should try out different driver version (make sure to use Driver Cleaner Pro to uninstall them) and see which on you like best. Try out some of the XTreme-G ones, try out some WHQL ones, see which one you like the best. Try out the 91.31's that you thought might be bad, who knows.

Well I want both image quality and performance in a driver since I'll be using Cat 6.6 against nVidia's best driver. I'm thinking of going with the 91.33 since people seem to like them a lot so far.

87.08's definitely look better in the pics posted above. There is no distant artifacting like the 84.25 and the fence looks much better.

I have 91.31 for my 6600gt (yeah I know not even in the same ball park let alone series as your card) and it has been atifacting like no ones bussiness in CS. Every few shots a black box appears where I shoot my gun and when you are releasing 10 - 15 bullets per enemy you encounter that's a lot of boxes) 🙁 I would go for whatever version before that you can get your hands on (I'm reinstalling 84.21 as I type this)
