While you are looking, check out the Dell M101z. It is offic ially a laptop, but is the size of a netbook, 11.5-in, and less than 4 lbs, and a starting price of $430.
If you want a "classic" netbook - cheap, excellent battery life, small screen / resolution, and laughable performance - the ASUS 1001P is hard to beat.
i went for the Asus UL30A 13.3-inch in the end as it has about 9 hours battery life. Not exactly a netbook really -- for me, better in every way. Found it for cheap (in the UK) with the 1.2GHz celeron in there. I'm happy

Great choice. I had one with the SU7300 and it was leaps and bounds faster than any netbook. The only downside is the price, but if you found one cheap, it's a win / win.
i like the nokia booklet 3G - it's on the cowboom/ebay/best buy private auction - hands down best buy for used buck - it's a wannabe macbook air but with an atom/500 - lol.
I've got a Dell mini 10v and a 1012 from the Dell outlet with 20% off coupon codes. I upgraded both to 2Gb ram and running Win 7 Ultimate 32bit on both. The mini 10v is a PITA to upgrade because the ram chip is under the motherboard. The 1012 is a lot easier to upgrade. Remove 3 screws from the bottom, pop up the keyboard, ram chip is on top side of MB.
I like the looks of the mini 10v better than the 1012, but the 1012 is faster because it has an atom n450 processor.
