what are the best computer headphones?

My cheap labtec headphones finally crapped out on me and want a better pair. The headphones weren;t that bad except the build quality sucked. Here are my requirements

1. <$150
2. must have a cord and standard 1/8" jack for the sound card (don't care for wireless headphones)
3. must have adjustable volume control
4. Leather padding

Cheaper is better, I don't need fancy features like noise cancelation or deep bass because I use onboard sound. I'm just going to use it when I watch my DVDs and play video games.

I don't need 5.1 headphones.

I just want something that is comfortable when wearing (I wear glasses so it can't pinch too much)

and the Koss webpage sucks. The product screen is really small and its really hard to tell which ones have volume control!

thanks in advance

thanks but try again.

I NEED the volume control on the headphones because sometimes I can't hear what someone says on a DVD even thought the volume is turned up. The extra volume control on the headphones gives me a volume boost.

If you think headphones have an amplifier built into them, you should just go buy something at Walmart.

agreed... the volume on the headphones is a variable resistor, it can only knock down the volume

you need a desktop remote control like on logitech thx speakers to give amplification to computer audio...

I think it makes a difference,m because I have 2 similar model labtec headphones, one with a volume control and one without and the one with a volume control is louder.

I would get some of these

I have them, 16 ft. cord is great for watching movies in my bed as my computer is across the room. Volume control up near the actual headphones(not in the middle of the cord). They fit comfortably on my head. It comes in the standard jack, but also comes with the 1/4" adapter. Retails for $30, probably going for less online somewhere.

walmart is 1/2 drive from where I live so I'm going to order it online, and thanks for ragging on me when I'm asking for help and obviously know nothing about audio. You're such a nice guy.

Got a pair of Sony MDR-7506 cans. They are actually meant for studio recording, but versatile. You won't regret it.

not you, the guy making the walmart comment.

seconded on the sony mdr v6. no way wort spending $150 on crappy computer audio. the sonys will work perfectly for cheap. any higher would be overkill.

I haven't heard of a good pair of headphones with built-in volume control.. consider getting a cheap amp for the volume control (and more) and the rest of the cash for a decent pair of phones.

ok, then tell me where online I can get a small cheap amp and what should I look for?

the cheapest would probably be something like a cmoy or mini, being non-commercial. you would really want to step up to at least a quality meta42 if you're going to spend at least $100 on your cans. head-fi.org often times has some really good classifieds for headphone amps.

EDIT: althought i still dont think its worth getting an amp+decent cans for PC audio. you probably wont notice much of a difference between that, than if you got something more moderate. like some hd280s, mdrv6s, k271s, or something. they will run much less and still sound good, even out of the soundcard without an amp.

One pair probably has lower impedance.

any headphone that has volume control on it sucks

get akg k240s for 80$ and spend another 80$ on m-audio revolution soundcard
