What are the best classes you ever took?

Mine would be a criminology course titled White-Collar Crime, basic statistics (particularly the part about null hypothesis), and intro to philosophy. Oh, in high school my AP U.S. government class really helped shape my views in politics.

What about you?

An Asian American studies class taught by Prof Takaki at UC Berkeley. Taking an ethnic studies class from him next semester, looking forward to it.

High School - AP physics was the best by far

College - I took a really great Relativistic E&M course as a freshman.

Ealier this year I had an awesome collective robotics lab... that stuff is fascinating!

Currently my favorite class is about the philosophy of psychology (mind-body problem)

Highschool (last day tommorow!!!):

Theory of Knowledge. A kind of introduction to philosophy and philosophcal discussion. Really cool class with a really awsome teacher.

Object Oriented Analysis (CS450 at Bentley College). We didn't write a line of code all semester, but it completely changed the way I thought about programming.

Damn, my cisco class at my high school sucks! The teachers dont and wont teach!!!! We have the course online so basically all my teacher does is activate tests. Not a word comes out from him about the curriculum. And I have only tinkered with a router once so far this year....

ecs110 (UC Davis) taught by Sean Davis,
its a Data Structures and Design class...

we get these challenges where we design programs to run faster or achieve a goal with minimum losses. Great fun... if you like to sit and tweak a program for hours on end...

<< pilipino american experiences (aa130A in ucla)

such a GREAT break from engineering classes

all the experience classes ROCK.

as for takaki, i know he wrote a pretty good book about the history of asians in america. it was the main book for my asian am history class.

best class i've taken... hrm... well so far history 147b is pretty good. its us history from 1875-1900. while it seems like a boring period the professor does a great job of presenting the material and makes it a lot more interesting.

i also had an Asian American studies class, which used Takaki's book for the course. his book was pretty good overall, but he was very biased when it came to the topic of Japanese occupation during WWII.

my best course in college was Nutrition. it was a very demanding upper division course, yet i learned so much about bettering myself through good food intake. it was fun, and i actually retained everything i learned in that class.

Four semesters of Sculpture. Learned metal brazing which eventually turned into a short career of welding. If I had the resources I'd still be pursuing metal sculpture.

Philosophy and religion classes... they're interesting and sometimes difficult to grasp but they're worth it in the end. You can really learn alot about yourself.

CSE 123A: Computer Networks with Dr. Varghese @ UC San Diego, awsome class with the best teacher ive ever had.

High school drafting series 1-3 (the class that introduced me to computers) 😕

ecology and economy (my favorite out of the classes I've taken towards a major in computer engineering) 😕

I'm changing my major 🙂

my favorite classes are intro classes because you get to learn about a lot of different stuff without getting into too much boring detail. I liked intro to ethics, intro to psychobio. i liked molecular bio too for some reason. biochem was surprising fun too. and who can forget english? sometimes it's a little too "fluffy" for me but overall it's a nice class to take once in a while.

HIST 230 Military History of the US, 1750-present
HIST 232 Naval Seapower (History of the US Navy)
HIST 364 History of American Technology
MEEN 461 Heat and Mass Transfer
MEEN 472 Gas Dynamics
MEEN 446 Senior Design II

I guess I would have two classes that were tied for the most fun, both of which I took in my last semester as a senior in college. One was a computer graphics course where we used all OpenGL. We got to create some 3d scenes, stuff like that. It was a lot of fun. The other was the senior-level creative writing course I took. I actually enjoyed short-story writing almost as much as I enjoyed programming.

Maybe they both fulfill some compulsion I have to create, or something. <shrug> 🙂

best classes I ever took:

Finance 456 Real Estate Management
Finance 380 Principals of Investment
Management 393 Operations Management
Finance 360 Insurance I
English 202 American Lit (great teacher)

Worst Classes Ever took
Math 175 Business Calc (YUK YUK YUK)
Econ 110 and Econ 120 (BORING BORING)
HPR 105 (Its like Gym class for college students and was mandatory! YUK)
History 151 The Ancient world to 1500. (I thought it would be a regular history course, but instead of learning about historical events, we learned about woman's impact on history ARRGH!)
