The best for me was Van Halen back in the David Lee Roth days.
There were really no special effects. It was just the guys, their instruments, and some amps on the stage; but it was the most entertaining of all the concerts I've been to. The music was great, the energy was so high, David Lee Roth was jumping all over the stage, and they all seemed to really enjoy what they were doing.

The most disappointing was Aerosmith.
Now I like the music loud, but they had it turned up so loud that it was completely distorted. They were halfway through "Back in the Saddle Again" before I could even recognize what it was. They also seemed to just be going through the motions on stage, like it was just a job they had to get done and that was it. Granted this was back in their drug days, but I still thought they would have cared more about the kind of performance they turned in.

I almost put KISS in 1975 or '76 as the best concert. I know I really enjoyed it, but to tell you the truth, I really don't remember it all that clearly. It was kind of difficult to see the band through all the smoke generated by the audience. :)

Most disappointing... NKOTB... sigh... Grandma wanted to take me, I never did like them... it sucked. Or maybe The Beastie Boys. Saw them at an amphitheater, and it was right after it rained, so we didn't wanna sit down during the cover bands, so basically just stood around listening to crap music for an hour, drinking a few beers. Then the Beastie Boys came on, and I just wasn't impressed with the show they put on.

One I enjoyed the most was back in 96, I forget what the tour was called, but it had a bunch of folks. Ziggie Marley, Cypress Hill, Tribe, and a few more that I can't remember. Cypress Hill was up on stage, someone from the pit threw up a joint, one of the guys picked it up, took a long drag, said "Thanks, man!" and went on rapping. Pretty funny. MTV was there with their Rock the Vote thing (or whatever it was called then), and I registered to vote too!

Worst musical performance I've seen was Steve Tyler singing the National Anthem at the Indy 500 this past year (01). Damn if he didn't completely wreck that song.

Only concerts up here in Alaska are local bands, so I've never seen any "real" concerts.

Best was Bad Religion in '96(?) in a little club in DC, worst was NOFX in DC at Warped (98?)... actually Warped was cool, but in order to see Rancid and BR again I had to sit through 30 minutes of NOFX... worst 30 minutes in my life, no contest.

The best I went to was Rage Against the Machine for their Evil Empire tour. That was also my first concert and it rocked. My least favorite (not that disappointing) was the Metallica concert. I had to sit through Kid Rock and my sister has a fainting spell during the concert.

Worst concert for me was Frank Zappa back in 78 at the Capitol Theatre in Jersey.

During the 3rd song which was "Don't Eat the Deadly Yellow Snow", Zappa asked for audience participation. Basically, he wanted all in attendance to stand up.

As the song progressed, Zappa kept stopping the song and saying that not all the audience members were standing. Well, after stopping the song (3) times, Zappa goes to the mic and says
"There is a fan in a Rolling Stones shirt in the front row who is not standing. Good Night everyone" He Then gave the audience the middle finger and walked off the stage never to come back on.

Dam near riot almost broke out and NO we did not get a refund!:Q

One of the best concerts I attended was Merauder a New York Hardcore band.
I was kind of drunk though and even bit a hole in somebody's T-shirt. Good old times ...

The best for me was Deep Purple at the now defunct, now demolished,Hollywood Sportatorium in Hollywood,Florida. Absolutely the loudest, yet clearest sounding concert I have ever been to. I have been to about 300 concerts ,by the way.The guy who said Rainbow was great,I can appreciate that because Ritchie Blackmore was on this night .Phenomenal.Probably the worst act I have seen was Van Halen opening for the Rolling Stones in 1981.Absolute rubbish, coupled with 100 degree heat and about 10,000 of my closest and stinkiest friends pressing in on me(I was at the front of the stage).

Peace
