What are the alternatives to Netflix?

I'm having trouble with netflix and am curious to know people's experience with the other services. The only other one I have tried is blockbuster and their selection for independent films suck.

Netflix has a good selection but, it took over 4 months for me to get End of Suburbia (I have seen it before but, wanted to show it to a friend) while it sat at the top of my queue the entire time...

It's that unacceptable?

Anyway, I'm just curious as to what kind of experience that people are having with the alternatives.... (I'm not even sure what else is out there)

Just to let you know I've been a netflix memeber for almost 2 years (3 a time unlimited) and have 264 movies (lots of shows, probably won't actually watch all of them) in my queue.

That movie appears to be out of print, it isn't even listed at DVD Empire and DVD Planet (and IMDB has no buy links either).

There are a few movies like that where netflix has a few copies but can't order more, where you can expect a "very long wait" like they say.

I've never had that kind of wait (in 5 years) for anything in print.

I'm going to check out Peerflix. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks interesting.

That's not at all similar to Netflix.

I use Hollywood Video's MVP program. It's an in-store deal, 3 out at a time, unlimited rentals for $15 a month. New releases become available after ~6 weeks (depends on popularity)

Op is asking for alternatives, not identical services. :disgust:

In general, I've had such poor customer service experiences with Blockbuster, Netflix, and others that I no longer rent movies. I buy DVD's from Movie Trading Company, Fry's or other outlets.

Sell back what I don't want to watch again.

But they only ship from Calif so expect to wait an extra few days for every movie, and they can't get you out of print movies either.

Netflix and local stores really are the only good choices until the studios agree to let someone set up an electronic download rental service.
