what are the advantages of a printer that uses USB vs Parallel Port??

I don't get it.
It seems to me that they're about the same.
So why should we use USB printer instead of Parallel port printer?

Smaller plug, legacy free, faster data transfer. That's about it.

Hhmm...I never saw hot swappability as a limitation to parallel....I mean, I can unplug the printer and plug it in without needing anything special (although I did fry the parallel port once...:p)

USB uses a single IRQ regardless of the number of devices hooked up to it.

ECP/EPP parallel port has higher throughput capabilities than USB 1, but USB is easier to use and more versatile.
