What are some things you used to do on the internet back in the day but don't do anymore for whatever reason

I used to frequent usenet before it turned into 100% kiddy porn. I don't even know if it exists anymore. I can't imagine legit institution/company wanting to risk linking their servers to it.

AOL chat rooms, MSN gaming Zone. I used to use gamecopyworld to download cracked .exe files so I didn't have to put the damn game CD in my CDROM drive every time I wanted to play.

I used to get valid video game cheat codes off of websites that didn't require a subscription! That's becoming increasingly tougher now.

LOL. I did 2 out of 3 of those things. Gaming zone was great for MW2 and I did the exe thing as well from the same site. I pretty much did chat on yahoo maybe?? I also hung around the linux chats. Bitchx :p

Visiting multiple different non-paywalled newspaper sites, for different takes on events.
These days it's down to the twin poles of The Guardian and The Daily Mail. Which, still constitutes a pretty large range, I guess.

Downloading 'user-made levels' for games like Quake.

Going back even earlier - using usenet.

clean out my email inbox.

use some of those browser tools/websites that send you to random websites that tend to be interesting (forgot what the one I used was called).
feed my fish in Opera browser (I assume they are long dead by now)
religiously follow/post in CL Rants & Raves (basically my jam before I discovered all the sociopaths at ATOT)

I know, without high speed internet I was so happy if I could find, successfully download and have the proper sound quality with 5 mp3’s Per night.

See ads. I kinda liked some of those 'old school' pages with ads down both sides flashing like Time Square. It was pretty cheezy, but I like the old time huckster feel.
