From what I read I'm guessing my chipset's 66C under load is quite a bit 🙂

I ran my chipset at 92-100C (physical heatsink temperature. Who knows the core?!?!) for a good 6 months.

it melted after 6 months?

^^ what do you think are the max temp for these chips these days???????

gpu chips operate normally at 100c all the time. why are you so worried about temperatures? as long as its within specification, all is fine.

Systems are:
Gigabyte
GA8-PE667 Ultra
GA8-PE800 Ultra
CPU is 2.66 P4 533 slot 478
CPU is cooled by Volcano 7+ at ~6400
I have one Volcano 7+ with a 3 speed switch. Unless I really make the CPU work, I can keep it in the mid 30s even at mid speed or low speed when idle.

average ~32 to ~35 idle or on the internet for places like this.

When I was doing Grid.org .... or with my new screensaver?

I say ~41 to maybe ~45 with the current fans. Open case... a bit less.
I've taken some case fans out. I can have up to 13 case fans. I may have to put some back in. I ran more case fans when I was doing Grid.org. Many times, I ran enough case fans to keep the CPU in the upper 30s under a full Grid.org load.
I need a good compromise between the sound level of a fleet of Cessas and being able to hear dear old Mom yelp for help. 😛
